Wednesday Sharp Action Report for Tonight's Six MACtion Showdowns

November 3, 2020 10:47 PM

Bettors are in for a treat tonight as we have a smorgasbord of college football action to sweat. The MAC returns and with it comes six games to bet on.

For an updated breakdown of Wednesday's betting action, be sure to tune in to the VSiN Market Insights Podcast with Josh Appelbaum. It will be posted at noon ET. I'll also be co-hosting Betting Across America with Mike Pritchard from 3-5 p.m. ET.

In the meantime, let's discuss where early smart money is flowing for tonight's MACtion betting bonanza. (Go here for's matchups page for the MAC.)

6 p.m. ET: Eastern Michigan at Kent State

This line opened with Ken State listed as a 6-point home favorite. The public is relatively split and doesn't know who to back. However, we've seen a sharp adjustment toward the road dog, with Kent State falling to -6 to -4.5. In a vacuum, a line shouldn't move at all if the tickets are even. So we know this line move was caused by pros backing Eastern Michigan and grabbing the points. We could also be looking at a high scoring game. We've seen the total jump from 63.5 to 65.5.

6 p.m. ET: Western Michigan at Akron

Pros and Joes both seem to be in agreement when it comes to a Western Michigan rout in this one. Western Michigan opened as a 17-point road favorite and we've seen lopsided action push the line up to -18.5. Akron has value as a contrarian home dog with an inflated line.

7 p.m. ET: Ball State at Miami Ohio

This matchup features arguably the sharpest move of the night. Miami Ohio opened as a 3.5-point home favorite. We've seen respected money back Ball State and the points, dropping the line down to 2. Ball State has value as a short road dog + 4 or less. This system has covered at roughly a 54% clip the past decade.

7 p.m. ET: Buffalo at Northern Illinois

This line opened with Buffalo listed as a 10.5-point road favorite. Pros have been steaming Buffalo, pushing the line up to -13.5. If this line continues to rise to -14, expect some buyback on Northern Illinois getting an inflated key number.

7 p.m. ET: Ohio at Central Michigan

Oddsmakers view these two teams are virtual equals and opened the like at a pick'em. But we've seen heavy smart money back the road team, pushing Ohio from a pick'em to a 2.5-point favorite. Smart money has also hit the under, dropping the total from 59 to 57. The forecast calls for 10-12 MPH winds.

8 p.m. ET: Bowling Green at Toledo

This is the final game of the night and also happens to feature the largest spread. Toledo opened as a 19-point home favorite. Both sharp money and public bettors are rushing to the window to lay the points, which has pushed Toledo up to -23. We've also seen some over money show up, pushing the total from 61.5 to 62.5.
