Now let's discuss some NHL Betting...
Last night we saw NHL home favorites go a perfect 3-0. This has been a consistent trend all season as home favorites are now 117-65 (64.3%) overall. While many bettors may assume playing at home is all about the crowd support, the bigger advantage is that home teams get the last line change so they can mix and match their personnel in order to best combat whoever the opponent sends out first. In terms of totals, we've seen unders turn a slight profit going 144-130 (53%).
Without further ado, here are a handful of Wednesday NHL games that fit several profitable system matches...
7 p.m. ET: Vancouver Canucks (6-11-2) at Pittsburgh Penguins (8-6-4)
These non-conference foes are trending in opposite directions. The Canucks are just 1-6 over their last seven games while the Penguins have won three straight, outscoring their opponents by a 9-1 margin. This line opened with Pittsburgh listed as a -200 home favorite and Vancouver a 180 road dog. We've seen respected money back the Penguins, pushing Pittsburgh up from -200 to -210. Home favorites -175 or more are 48-20 (71%) this season. Big favorites -200 or more are 39-11 (78%). If they're also coming off a win, they improve to 21-4 (84%). Home favorites off a win against an opponent off a loss are 42-12 (78%). The Pens check off all of these boxes.
8 p.m. ET: Vegas Golden Knights (11-8) at Nashville Predators (10-7-1)
Both of these Western Conference rivals played two nights ago. Vegas lost to St. Louis 5-2 as 135 road dogs while Nashville beat Anaheim 3-2, cashing as -140 home favorites. This line opened with Nashville listed as a modest -118 favorite and Vegas a 108 road dog. Sharps have sided with the Predators, inching Nashville up from -118 to -120 or -125 depending on the shop. Conference home favorites are 77-38 (67%) this season. Nashville also matches the home favorites off a win, opponent off a loss system (42-12, 78%). The Predators are riding a 4-game home win streak.
9 p.m. ET: Anaheim Ducks (10-6-3) at Colorado Avalanche (9-5-1)
The Ducks are riding a two-game losing streak while the Avalanche have won five straight. This line opened with Colorado listed as a hefty -220 home favorite and Anaheim a 200 road dog. We've seen wiseguy chalk push Colorado up to -230 at some books. The Avalanche match several profitable systems this season. Big favorites -200 or more are 39-11 (78%) and "sweet spot" home favorites -200 or more off a win are 21-4 (84%). This is yet another home favorites off a win, opponent off a loss system (42-12, 78%) as well. Colorado is 8-5 as a favorite this season and 5-2-1 at home. Anaheim is 7-8 as a dog and 3-3-2 on the road. The Avs enjoy a big advantage on offense, averaging 4.07 GPG versus 3.32 for the Ducks.
