Wednesday MLB Sharp Report

For an updated breakdown of Wednesday's betting action, be sure to tune in to the VSiN Market Insights Podcast with Josh Appelbaum. It will be posted at 3 p.m. ET. I'll also be co-hosting Betting Across America with Ben Wilson from 3 to 4 p.m. ET. In the meantime, let's discuss a trio of MLB games receiving sharp action today...

2:10 p.m. ET: Texas Rangers (36-37) at Kansas City Royals (26-47)

The Rangers have taken the first two games of the series, winning the opener 10-4 as -150 road favorites and then winning again on Tuesday 8-3 as -155 road favorites. In this afternoon's series finale, Texas hands the ball to righty Dane Dunning (1-5, 4.17 ERA) and Kansas City sends out veteran righty Zack Grenike (1-4, 4.68 ERA). This line opened with the Rangers listed as a short -115 road favorite and the Royals a +105 home dog. Pros seem to be thinking "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and have steamed Texas up from -115 to -125. Non-division road favorites are 141-73 (66%) this season. Kansas City is just 19-39 as a dog, 13-25 at home and 16-33 against righties. Texas has a team ERA of 3.94 compared to 5.05 for Kansas City. Texas is +14 in run differential. Kansas City is -104. The Rangers lead the season series 4-1. There also appears to be some liability on a higher scoring game, as the total is 9 with the over juiced to -120. The forecast calls for low 90s with 10 MPH winds blowing out to center. The over is 4-1 in five head-to-head matchups this season, including 2-0 this series.

7:07 p.m. ET: Boston Red Sox (42-33) at Toronto Blue Jays (42-32)

The Jays have taken the first two games of this AL East clash, winning the opener 7-2 as -200 home favorites and then winning against last night 6-5 as -135 home favorites. In tonight's series finale, Boston hands the ball to righty Nick Pivetta (8-5, 3.25 ERA) and Toronto sends out fellow righty Alek Manoah (9-2, 2.05 ERA). This line opened with the Jays listed as a -145 home favorite and the Red Sox a +130 road dog. Pros are riding the Jays to complete the sweep, steaming Toronto up from -145 to -160. Toronto is 34-22 as a favorite, 23-14 at home and 35-25 against righties. Toronto leads the season series 7-2, including 5-1 at home against Boston. The Jays are 6-1 in the last 7 starts by Manoah.

9:38 p.m. ET: Chicago White Sox (35-38) at Los Angeles Angels (36-41)

These non-division AL foes have split the first two games of the series. The Angels took the opener 4-3 as -140 home favorites and then the White Sox bounced back with an 11-4 win yesterday, cashing as  110 road dogs. In tonight's rubber match, Chicago starts righty Michael Kopech (2-4, 2.59 ERA) and Los Angeles counters with two-way ace Shohei Ohtani (5-4, 2.90 ERA). This line opened with the Angels listed as a -135 home favorite and the White Sox a +115 road dog. Pros have laid the chalk with the Angels, steaming Los Angeles up from -135 to -175. Non-division home favorites are 270-197 (58%) this season. Los Angeles also has correlative betting value as a favorite in a low total game (7.5). The Angels are 28-22 as a favorite. The White Sox are 11-19 as a dog. Ohtani has a 1.88 ERA in June and the Angels have won three of his four starts so far this month. Kopech has a June ERA of 5.23 and the White Sox have lost four of his five starts this month.
