Football season is in full swing, but there’s still time each Saturday to sneak in some horse racing wagers, so Team Tuley continues to look for value at tracks from coast to coast.
This Saturday, we have five spot plays at Belmont and Keeneland from Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed from his “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” Saratoga column over the summer), Rampart race and sports book manager Duane Colucci and yours truly, plus Pick 4s from Sehon and Colucci.
Good luck today (and every day!).
Keeneland Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes #7 War Machine (7-2 morning line). “Trainer Michael Stidham brings first-time gelding back to blue grass country after speedy efforts at Woodbine and Del Mar. Leading jockey Tyler Gaffalione accepts mount after string of steady works. Wager: Win and box in exactas with 5 and 12.”
Belmont Race No. 6 (3:15 p.m. ET/12:15 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #11 R Roy Bode (15-1 morning line). “This 5-year-old gelding has a good chance to be overlooked by the public in this wide-open 6-furlong allowance race, but he should be able to sit just off the pace in this wide-open race and be right in contention heading for home. That’s all we could ask for when looking for a price play. Wager: Win and Place.”
Belmont Races Nos. 7-10 (3:47 p.m. ET/12:47 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes $.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)
Race 7: 1,3,4,5,7,10
Race 8: 1,2,3,6,10
Race 9: 8,9,10,11
Race 10: 10
Keeneland Races Nos. 7-10 (4:12 p.m. ET/1:12 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $40.50)
Race 7: 1,5,7
Race 8: 4,7,11
Race 9: 8,9,13
Race 10: 4,6,10
Duane Colucci likes $.50 Pick 4 (cost $80)
Race 7: 1,5,6,8
Race 8: 1,4,5,10,11
Race 9: 3,7,9,13
Race 10: 4,5
Belmont Race No. 9 (4:52 p.m. ET/1:52 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes #10 Never Surprised (5-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Hill Prince Stakes. “Expensive, steady (two wins, two places from four starts) sophomore picks up front-running rider Kendrick Carmouche for HOF trainer Todd Pletcher. Series of bullet works indicates a victory would be no surprise. Wager: Win.”
Dave Tuley likes #4 Founder (10-1 morning line). “There should be a decent pace set in this graded stakes race, so I’m looking for a closer and I believe I found(er) one in this 3-year-old. Trainer Chad Brown and jockey Jose Ortiz are hitting at 32 percent the past two months when teaming up, and Ortiz should have Founder making one big run late for the upset. Wager: Win and Place (plus I’ll box with Mr. Ed’s 10).”
Belmont Race No. 10 (5:23 p.m. ET/2:23 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes #10 Kisses for Emily (8-1 morning line). “This $125,000 purchase has worked extremely well in the morning, especially on Sept. 26 (47 1/5 breezing). Luis Saez takes the mount in this, her first test. She should be graduating. Bet 10 to Win and key 10 over 1,5 and 9 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.
