Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races on Saturday, July 31

Our friend, Ed Sehon, has broken out on his own with “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” feature at vsin.com/horses during the 40-day meet, but Team Tuley continues to look for value at tracks from coast to coast (and this week includes Woodbine in Canada).

This Saturday, I have three spot plays (two at Saratoga and one at Del Mar), John Lauro has a spot play at Woodbine and Rampart race & sports book manager Duane Colucci has a spot play at Saratoga and Pick 4 tickets at both Saratoga and Del Mar.

Sehon is still part of Team Tuley and gives his version of the Late Pick 4 at Saratoga. For his full coverage of Saturday’s card at the Spa, check out his column HERE.

Good luck today (and every day!).

Woodbine Race No. 8 (4:45 p.m. ET/1:45 p.m. PT)

John Lauro likes #6 One Timer (9-5 morning line) in the $125,000 Victoria Stakes. “My best bet this weekend is One Timer. He almost broke the track record first out at Arlington Park.”

Saratoga Race No. 8 (5:03 p.m. ET/2:03 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #8 Montauk Traffic (15-1 morning line) in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap. “Linda Rice trainee has done little wrong, winning two of last three. Second-place finisher in his last is a return winner. This colt needs pace for his closing kick and he will be flying late for the money. Bet 8 to win and key 8 over 2,3 & 9 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”

Dave Tuley likes #4 Strike Power (15-1 morning line). “Most of the top contenders in this race come from off the pace, but I think Strike Power could steal this on the front end. I don’t think any of these can run with him early and we think Strike Power is also helped by shortening back up to six furlongs after losing late last time out at seven furlongs. Wager: Win & Place (if I lose, I hope Strike Power sets it up for Colucci’s play); I’ll also use with #8 Montauk Traffic in exotics.

Saratoga Races Nos. 8-11 (5:03 p.m. ET/2:03 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $45)

Race 8: 2,3,4,5,6,9

Race 9: 5

Race 10: 1,2,5,7,8

Race 11: 3,8,13

Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $64)

Race 8: 2,3,8,9

Race 9: 3,5

Race 10: 1,2,3,7

Race 11: 1,3,11,12

Saratoga Race No. 10 (6:13 p.m. ET/3:13 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #6 Red Knight (12-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Bowling Green Stakes. “This looks like a wide-open race and plenty of horses will be bunched up sitting off the pace with Red Knight, but I’ll take my chances with this closer at a price. Trainer Bill Mott adds blinkers, so hopefully that does the trick. Wager: Win & Place.”

Del Mar Races Nos. 8-11 (8:36 p.m. ET/5:36 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $50)

Race 8: 1,2,3,4,8

Race 9: 5,6,8,9,11

Race 10: 3,8

Race 11: 1,7

Del Mar Race No. 10 (9:36 p.m. ET/6:36 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #1 Shooters Shoot (15-1 morning line) in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes. “There is a ton of speed in this six-furlong sprint, so I’m looking for a horse to pick up the pieces. The one with the best chance at that is Shooters Shoot, who did it two races back and then came up just short last time out in the Grade 2 Triple Bend. Wager: Win & Place.”

Note: also check out our A.I. Pick of the Week at vsin.com/horses as we’ve gone 8-for-19 since taking over the feature for a nice ROI of $2.13 for every $2 wagered to Win. There are also more plays from 1ST/BET handicappers on that page at vsin.com/horses.
