Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races on Saturday, July 3

The Triple Crown season is behind us, but Team Tuley continues to look for value from coast to coast.

Our team tackles Belmont and Gulfstream on Saturday. Ed Sehon posted two spot plays earlier this morning and then added a Late Pick ticket at Belmont after Saturday’s early scratches (and there were plenty of them with the inclement weather back East). I have three spot plays at Belmont and Gulfstream while John Lauro loves the late Daily Double at Belmont, plus Duane Colucci added one spot play at Gulfstream (his top pick at Belmont was scratched) plus Late Pick 4s at both Belmont and Gulfstream.

Good luck today (and every day!) and happy holiday weekend.

SATURDAY

Belmont Race No. 3 (2:02 p.m. ET/11:02 a.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #3 Work Out (3-1 morning line). “This 3-year-old grandson of Uncle Mo showed steady improvement during promising, three-race (win, two places) 2020 rookie campaign on tough NY-bred circuit. Youngster makes sophomore debut in this $80,000 allowance sprint. Capable Leah Gyarmati trains, top rider Jose Ortiz returns and colt gets Lasix for first time. Look for him to work out perfect, front-end trip over expected soggy surface. Wager: Win.”

Belmont Race No. 5 (3:02 p.m. ET/12:02 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #1 Regality (3-1 morning line). “N.Y.-bred sophomore son of Alpha returns after easy, sloppy score five weeks ago for nation’s No. 1 trainer Steve Asmussen and top jock Irad Ortiz Jr. Owner Joseph Migliore (son of retired rider and racing analyst Richard) completes appeal of regal connections. Entered for a $30,000 tag, colt is proven at distance over wet surface. Wager: Win”

Belmont Races Nos. 7-10 (4:06 p.m. ET/1:06 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes the following $.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)

Race 7: ALL (2,3,4,6,7,8)

Race 8: 1,2,6,8,9

Race 9: 4,9

Race 10: 4,6

Duane Colucci likes the following $.50 Pick 4 (cost $48)

Race 7: 2,6,7,8

Race 8: 1,2,7,9

Race 9: 1,8,9

Race 10: 4,6

Gulfstream Races Nos. 9-12 (4:29 p.m. ET/1:29 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes the following $.50 Pick 4 (cost $64)

Race 9: 1,4,7,9

Race 10: 2,4,6,8

Race 11: 1,4,5,6

Race 12: 15,16

Belmont Race No. 8 (4:40 p.m. ET/1:40 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #3 Wolfie’s Dynaghost (6-1 morning line). “This 3-year-old colt came from off the pace in his debut last November at Aqueduct and then set the pace before fading in the Grade 3 Peter Pan here at Belmont on May 8. He now returns with a drop in class to this $80,000 optional claimer and adds Lasix. This looks like the spot for the son of Ghostzapper to return to the winner’s circle. Wager: Win & Place.”

Gulfstream Race No. 10 (5:02 p.m. ET/2:02 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #2 Willy Boi (15-1 morning line) in the Grade 3 Smile Sprint Invitational Stakes. “This 3-year-old gelding could be the speed of the speed and steal this under jockey Samy Camacho, who is around 15% overall but is 6-for-13 the past week. Willy Boi isn’t the most likely winner of the race, but he’s the best value. Wager: Win & Place.”

Belmont Races No. 9-10 (5:12 p.m. ET/2:12 p.m. PT)

John Lauro likes #9 Viadera (4-5 morning line) in the Perfect Sting Stakes and #4 Mystic Guide (1-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Suburban Stakes. “Viadera, the winner of the Grade 1 Matriarch at Del Mar and three straight overall, makes her seasonal debut in this $100,000 ungraded stakes and Mystic Guide returns in the Suburban. I love this Daily Double, 9-4.”

Gulfstream Race No. 11 (5:35 p.m. ET/2:35 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #6 Laura’s Light (7-2 morning line) in the Grade 2 Princess Rooney Invitational Stakes. “This well-traveled Peter Miller runner pops up here in this competitive Grade 2 on a two-race win streak. Miller retains the services of Florent Geroux as well. When teaming up, Miller and Geroux hit at 37% and a $2.17 ROI. Ragozins and Beyer Speed Figures are very competitive here. Bet 6 to Win and key 6 over 1,4 & 5 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”

Dave Tuley likes #7 Hallawallah (20-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Princess Rooney Invitational Stakes. “We have another live long shot with a chance to steal a stakes on what could be an uncontested lead. This 5-year-old mare won wire-to-wire in her last and is admittedly taking a step back up in class after finishing way up the track in her two previous graded stakes entries. I’m counting on trainer Juan Avila to have found the right spot as he’s 11% with winners of their last race, 13% in graded stakes and 18% with horses second off a layoff. If Hallawallah is anywhere near her morning-line price, she’s worth a flier. Wager: Win & Place.”

Note: also check out our A.I. Pick of the Week at vsin.com/horses as we’ve gone 8-for-16 since taking over the feature for a nice ROI of $2.53 for every $2 wagered to Win. There are also more plays from 1ST/BET handicappers on that page at vsin.com/horses.
