Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races on Saturday, Aug. 28

Our friend, Ed Sehon, has broken out on his own with “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” feature at vsin.com/horses during the 40-day meet, but Team Tuley continues to look for value at tracks from coast to coast (and this week includes Saratoga and Arlington).

First, a disclaimer. I’m not posting any plays this week because I’m competing in the National Horseplayers Championship at Bally’s Las Vegas and don’t want to give any inside info on my plays or strategies to anyone in the field (or potentially lower any of my potential payoffs as mutuel prices are used for scoring in the contest). Before you say I’m being paranoid, let me say that stranger things have happened to affect contest outcomes. However, I will say I fully endorse my friends, Ed Sehon and John Lauro, trying to beat heavily favored Essential Quality in the Travers. For the rest of Sehon’s plays, check out “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” at vsin.com/horses and HERE

Good luck today (and every day!).

Saratoga Race No. 7 (3:02 p.m. ET/12:02 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #1 Gamine (4-5) in the Grade 1 Ballerina Handicap. “Bob Baffert brings his ultra-talented, fleet filly Gamine back east to pad her total earnings ($1.4 million to date). John Velazquez has guided her to four straight victories. Lone speed leads to another wire-to-wire romp.”

Arlington Race No. 7 (6:40 p.m. ET/3:40 p.m. PT)

John Lauro likes #6 One Timer (4-5 morning line). “We’ve cashed on this 2-year-old star before and now he tops the Arlington-Washington Futurity on Saturday at Arlington.”

Saratoga Race No. 12 (6:12 p.m. ET/3:12 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #6 Masquerade (8-1) in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes. “Welcome to the graveyard of champions as cagey conditions Al Stall Jr. and regular rider Miguel Mena steer Masqueparade (8-1 morning line) to upset victory over prohibitive favorite Essential Quality (4-5). Let the parade begin.

John Lauro likes #3 Keepmeinmind (6-1 morning line). “Looking for the upset in the Travers. He was moving on the winner [Essential Quality in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy. He’s been waiting for a mile and a quarter.”

Note: also check out our A.I. Pick of the Week at vsin.com/horses as we’ve gone 11-for-23 since taking over the feature for a nice ROI of $2.21 for every $2 wagered to Win. There are also more plays from 1ST/BET handicappers on that page at vsin.com/horses.

1/ST Bet is offering a Travers Day Money-Back Special: Get your cash back — up to $10 — if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd on all races at Saratoga on Travers day. GO HERE FOR DETAILS.

Also you can get in on the Travers All-Stakes Pick 5: Register at Xpressbet.com and hit the Travers all-stakes Pick 5 on Races 8-12 and split $10,000.
