Our friend, Ed Sehon, has broken out on his own with “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” feature at vsin.com/horses during the 40-day meet, but Team Tuley continues to look for value at tracks from coast to coast (and this week includes Saratoga and Del Mar).
Last Saturday, Duane Colucci scored with Bella Sofia ($10.40) in the Grade 1 Test and Sehon gave out Knicks Go ($4.10) in the Grade 1 Whitney, which I also used as our A.I. Pick of the Week. However, we didn’t hit with our longer shots or multi-race wagers.
This Saturday, John Lauro joins us again with two spot plays at Saratoga, while Colucci and I each have a spot play at Saratoga and Del Mar (and Colucci gives his Late Pick 4s at each track). We’re also reposting Sehon’s Late Pick 4 at Saratoga, but for the rest of his coverage of the Saratoga card, check out “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” at vsin.com/horses.
Good luck today (and every day!).
SATURDAY
Saratoga Race No. 7 (4:29 p.m. ET/1:29 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #2 Big Blue (12-1 morning line). “Toss out this 3-year-old colt’s last race and he fits in this $40,000 claimer. His closing style also fits this race and he picks up under-the-radar jockey Dylan Davis. Wager: Win & Place.”
Del Mar Race No. 1 (5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #6 Language Barrier (10-1 morning line). “Trainer Doug O’Neill has hit at 34% with horses in their second start after he’s claimed them, just like this 3-year-old gelding. O’Neill puts on Kyle Frey, who has been hitting 22% with this type of stalking runner, which should put him in the right position to upset these $16,000 claimers. Wager: Win & Place.”
Saratoga Races Nos. 8-11 (5:03 p.m. ET/2:03 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $64)
Race 8: 1,3,4,6
Race 9: 1,2,6,8
Race 10: 1,3,5,6
Race 11: 9,10
Ed Sehon likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)
Race 8: 1,3,4,5,6
Race 9: 1,6,8,10
Race 10: 1,5
Race 11: 2,4,7
Saratoga Race No. 9 (5:39 p.m. ET/2:39 p.m. PT)
John Lauro likes #7 Double Thunder (6-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes. “Trainer Todd Pletcher has to keep Double Thunder and his other 2-year-old star, Wit, separated until the Breeders’ Cup. Last to first at Churchill in last shows great quality to sit and finish. Strong Win Bet and also play the Daily Double with 7 and the 1 in the next race.”
Saratoga Race No. 10 (6:13 p.m. ET/3:13 p.m. PT)
John Lauro likes #1 Raging Bull (9-5 morning line). “Raging Bull just missed last out. Set for top effort. Strong Win Bet.”
Duane Colucci also likes #1 Raging Bull (9-5 morning line) in the Grade 1 Fourstardave “Chad Brown’s super miler returns to Saratoga where he has two victories. A sharp :47 4/5 breezing work and Irad Ortiz Jr. in the saddle should result in a victory in this light field. Bet 1 to Win and key 1 over 3,5 & 6 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”
Del Mar Races Nos. 7-10 (8:06 p.m. ET/5:06 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)
Race 7: 1,3,4,6
Race 8: 1,4,5,6,7
Race 9: 3,4,5
Race 10: 7,10
Del Mar Race No. 9 (9:06 p.m. ET/6:06 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes #4 I’ll Stand Taller (7-2 morning line). “This Doug O'Neill trainee had a solid run on July 24 here at Del Mar. He shortens a half-furlong and will have to turn the tables on the favorite, who beat him first time out with a strong closing rally. Bet 4 to Win on key 4 over 1,3 & 5 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”
Note: also check out our A.I. Pick of the Week at vsin.com/horses as we’ve gone 10-for-21 since taking over the feature for a nice ROI of $2.27 for every $2 wagered to Win. There are also more plays from 1ST/BET handicappers on that page at vsin.com/horses.
