Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races of Saturday, Aug. 7

Our friend, Ed Sehon, has broken out on his own with “Mr. Ed’s Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day” feature at vsin.com/horses during the 40-day meet, but Team Tuley continues to look for value at tracks from coast to coast (and this week includes Saratoga and Del Mar).

I have three spot plays (two at Saratoga and one at Del Mar) while Rampart race & sports book manager Duane Colucci has a spot play each at Saratoga and Del Mar, plus Late Pick 4 tickets at each track.

Sehon is still part of Team Tuley and we’ve included his “Price Play” and his “Best Bet” from Saratoga among our plays. For his full coverage of Saturday’s action at the Spa, check out his column HERE. https://www.vsin.com/mr-eds-saratoga-on-about-100-a-day-8-7/

Good luck today (and every day!).

Saratoga Race No. 7 (3:58 p.m. ET/12:58 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #6 Dalika (9-2 morning line). “Top shipper Al Stall Jr. returns veteran turf specialist Dalika and her regular rider, Miguel Mena, to the Spa for Grade 2 Glens Falls marathon. She’ll be close to lead early -- and kick home a winner. Wager: Win & Place.”

Saratoga Race No. 8 (4:34 p.m. ET/1:34 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #8 Bella Sofia (6-1 morning line) in the Grade 1 Test Stakes. “Rudy Rod brings this speedy filly here coming off a crushing victory the day after scratching in the Victory Gallop. She draws well outside and is reunited with leading rider Luis Saez, who is on fire! Steady workouts show her fitness. Bet Win on 8 and key 8 over 3,5 & 7 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”

Dave Tuley likes #3 Zaajel (8-1 morning line). “In the Grade 2 Mother Goose, this 3-year-old filly was 18-1, sat right behind the pace under Joel Rosario and they ran down favored Always Carina for the upset. I don’t see why she can’t do it again, and she’s still 8-1 on the morning line compared to Always Carina (3-1), who should have plenty of pressure on the lead of this seven-furlong sprint. Wager: Win & Place.”

Del Mar Race No. 1 (5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #7 Feast (15-1 morning line). “Trainer Doug O’Neill picked up this claimer in New York and brings him West to see if his speed can compete with “California speed.” He romped by more than five lengths in his last win and takes a step up in class, but I’m counting on O’Neill finding the right place as he’s 12% with these types of new horses and adds top rider Umberto Rispoli. Wager: Win & Place.”

Saratoga Race No. 9 (5:10 p.m. ET/2:10 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #8 Cellist (15-1 morning line) in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby Invitational. “While most people are going to be waiting for Bolshoi Ballet to make her late move, I think Cellist has the chance to steal this on the front end if allowed to set soft early fractions. Wager: Win & Place.”

Saratoga Races Nos. 9-12 (5:10 p.m. ET/2:10 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $72)

Race 9: 2,4,6,10

Race 10: 2,3,4

Race 11: 1,3,5,6

Race 12: 3,6,10

Saratoga Race No. 10 (5:48 p.m. ET/2:48 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #4 Knicks Go (6-5 morning line) in the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes. “Trainer-of-Year Brad Cox has Knicks Go fully cranked off 10-length Prairie Meadows score. Wire-to-wire puts him in Breeders’ Cup Classic. Mr. Ed hasn’t rooted for Knicks since ‘72. Wager: Win.”

Del Mar Races Nos. 8-11 (8:36 p.m. ET/5:36 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)

Race 8: 3,4,5,7,8

Race 9: 1,3,5,6

Race 10: 3,8,9

Race 11: 1,5

Del Mar Race No. 10 (9:36 p.m. ET/6:36 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #9 Maxim Rate (7-2 morning line) in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Handicap. “Simon Callahan trainee returns from a freshening after a huge Grade 1 in the Gamely at Santa Anita. This mare has two victories at Del Mar, including a listed stakes last summer. Callahan is off to a hot start, going 4-of-14 with 2 seconds and 2 thirds. He and jockey Juan Hernandez are hitting at 23% this year with a $3.18 ROI. JJ is also getting hot, winning the Grade 2 Sorrento on Friday. He should get back-to-back Grade 2s!. Bet Win on 9 and key 9 over 3,5 & 8 in exactas, trifectas and reverse.”

Note: also check out our A.I. Pick of the Week at vsin.com/horses as we’ve gone 9-for-20 since taking over the feature for a nice ROI of $2.18 for every $2 wagered to Win. There are also more plays from 1ST/BET handicappers on that page at vsin.com/horses.
