Sunday was another action-filled day in the Tuley’s Takes office with two Game 7s apiece in the NBA and NHL playoffs along with a full slate of MLB games plus USFL and a mix of golf, auto racing, etc. We also mixed in some family time again in the pool and ended with some S’mores in the fire pit.

We went 2-0 with our USFL Overs, then lost our Best Bet of the day on the Bucks (dipping to 52-39-1 since Super Sunday), plus the Nationals and Phillies in MLB and the Penguins in the NHL, but at least also ended on a sweet note with the Cardinals on Sunday Night Baseball and the Mavericks in the NBA nightcap.

Let’s recap the rest of Sunday’s betting results and try to get back to our winning ways to start the week.

Sunday’s recaps

NBA: Mavericks (+ 6.5, + 243 ML) routed Suns 123-90 to win their series 4-3 (the game went Over the betting total of 204.5 points). Earlier, the Celtics (-5) covered in 109-81 rout of Bucks to also prevail 4-3 (stayed Under 205.5). Faves/dogs and home/road teams split 1-1 SU and ATS on the day, The zig-zag went 0-2 ATS as the Bucks and Suns were in that role. Over/Unders split 1-1.

More NBA: Faves went 16-10 SU in the 2nd round, but 13-13 ATS, and they’re 46-23 SU and 39-30 ATS (56.5 percent) overall. Home teams 19-7 SU and 18-8 ATS this round, 43-26 SU but just 36-33 ATS. The zig-zag dipped to 14-8 ATS in the round, 30-27 ATS overall. Unders led 16-10 in the round, 43-26 (62.3 percent) overall.

NHL: Flames (-210) outlasted the Stars 3-2 in OT late Sunday to win their 1st-round series 4-3 (the game pushed on the Over/Under 5 goals). Earlier, the Rangers (-128) outlasted the Penguins 4-3 in OT to also win their series 4-3 (went Over 6.5). Faves (both home) 2-0 on the day. Overs went 1-0-1.

More NHL: Faves (on 13-2 run the last 5 nights) are 33-18 SU in the playoffs. Home teams lead 32-19. The zig-zag went 1-1 Sunday (win by Flames but loss by Penguins), but still 24-19 SU overall. Overs finished 1st round at 31-18-2 (63.3 percent), 23-10-2 (69.7 percent) last 10 days after 8-8 start.

MLB: Faves went 8-7 with biggest upsets by the Royals (+ 127 at Rockies) and Mariners (+ 126 at Mets) and Cardinals (+ 123 vs. Giants). On the chalk side, the Pirates (-150) beat the Reds 1-0 despite being no-hit!. Road teams went 8-7. Unders 7-6-2 with pushes in BOS-TEX (8) and HOU-WAS (8).

More MLB: Faves lead 306-200 SU (60.5 percent) on the season with 11 games closing pick-'em (faves usually win closer to 59 percent SU, so faves still ahead of that pace). Home teams dipped to 264-253. Unders lead 264-228-25 (53.7 percent), though still down from being 60 percent just 20 days ago.

USFL: Maulers (+ 5.5) beat Gamblers 21-20 on final-play TD to wrap up Week 5 (game went Over betting total of 33.5 points). Earlier, Stallions (-6) covered in 30-17 win vs. Stars (went Over 35.5). Faves 13-7 SU on season but just 10-9-1 ATS. Overs 4-0 this week and lead 11-9 after Unders started the season 8-4.

Monday’s Takes

Astros + 105 at the Red Sox: The Astros are second only to the Yankees this season and actually playing better on the road as they average 4.55 runs per game away from home as opposed to 3.92 at home. The Astros are also 14-8 on the road while the Red Sox are only 4-9 at home. The Astros had an 11-game winning streak snapped on Saturday by the Nationals, and then overcame the anti-swagger spot with a 8-0 win on Sunday, just a team that shows up and gives their best effort every day. Other tempting dogs on Monday are the Cardinals + 104 at the Mets, the Rockies + 135 vs. the Giants and the Mariners + 140 at the Blue Jays.

NBA advance plays: On Sunday night’s “The Lookahead” show (at my usual time of 10:15 p.m. ET/7:15 p.m. ET), I gave our plays on the upcoming conference finals. I have the Celtics + 2 at the Heat on Tuesday night in Miami, though basically saying I expected to be the dog in the Eastern Conference championship series (on the Heat plus the points when the series moves to Boston), and then the Mavericks + 5.5 at the Warriors in Wednesday’s Western Conference opener.

Good luck today (and every day!).
