Monday was spent catching up on some much-needed rest in the Tuley’s Takes home office.
Of course, most of my days are spent trying to keep this hot streak going, handicapping the next day’s cards in the major sports and waiting for the top best bet to be played. I had given out Kansas State + 12.5 at Texas Tech as our best bet and everyone should have been able to get + 13.
We felt confident in the Wildcats to keep the game close, though we had a bit of a scare when Texas Tech built a 9-point midway through the first half and still led by 8 at halftime, 39-31. K-State went on a 9-1 run to open the second half to tie the game at 40-40 and the spread was never in doubt the rest of the way with the Wildcats even taking the lead a few times before Texas Tech regained control and won by 73-68 and we have our 15th winning day in the last 16 days with a best-bet record of 14-1-1 ATS. For icing on the cake, we also hit our secondary play on the Canucks-Devils FIrst-Period Over 1.5 -140 as the Devils led 3-0 after the opening period.
Let’s recap the rest of Monday’s betting action (and we’re happy we passed on the NBA and NHL sides as favorites went a perfect 10-0 combined!) and try to keep the winners coming on Tuesday.
Monday’s recaps
NBA: Favorites went a perfect 7-0 SU and ATS on Monday as the Magic (-2.5 vs. Pacers), Timberwolves (-3.5 at Cavaliers), Raptors (-3 at Nets), Heat (-4.5 vs. Bulls), Grizzlies (-8.5 vs. Spurs), Bucks (-10.5 vs. Hornets) and Kings (-5.5 at Thunder) all won and covered. Unders went 4-3.
CBB: No. 3 Baylor (-1.5) covered in its 68-61 win at Texas. Also in the Big 12, No. 12 Texas Tech (-13) beat Kansas State 73-68 but did NOT cover. No. 23 Iowa (-10) and No. 17 UCLA (-9) both covered in their wins over Northwestern and Washington, respectively.
NHL: Faves went 3-0 on Monday with the Devils (-126 in 7-2 rout vs. Canucks), Maple Leafs (-130 in 5-3 win at Capitals) and Bruins (-125 in 7-0 rout of Kings) all winning and also covering on the 1.5 puck line. Overs also went 3-0.
Tuesday’s Takes
Wisconsin + 3 vs. Purdue: Just like Monday, I don’t like any underdogs on Tuesday’s NBA card (hmm, maybe I should bet a chalk parlay like I should have done Monday LOL). Anyway, so we’re having to go with a college basketball play again. At this time of year (and especially when we get into the conference tournaments, I’m usually looking for motivated dogs that are on the NCAA Tournament bubble playing that are playing against teams that are comfortably in the field. I didn’t mention that yesterday, though that could have been another reason to bet Kansas State against Texas Tech. It was mentioned during the broadcast that K-State was on the bubble at 14-14 but being from the ultra-strong Big 12, though I didn’t really consider it when I was doing my handicapping. Anyway, I don’t like any of the unranked teams vs. ranked teams on Tuesday’s card and instead like Wisconsin getting points as home underdogs against Purdue in a battle of Top 10 teams. Both teams are certainly motivated with the Big Ten regular-season title on the line, and their stats are pretty similar overall, especially when looking at Wisconsin at home and Purdue on the road. I also like that Wisconsin won the earlier meeting, 74-69, as 13-point road dogs at Purdue. The line has swung 10 points with the change in home-court advantage and we still feel the value is on the Badgers.
Devils-Blue Jackets First-Period Over 1.5 -140: We’ll stick with the early-scoring Devils (on a 24-3 run in the “will there be a score in the first 10 minutes prop in addition to be 23-5 with 1P Overs) as they’re 34-18 on the season w/ 1P Overs while the Blue Jacket are also tied for the second-best 1P Over record at 35-18 for a combined 69-36 (65.7 percent) hit rate. That far exceeds the 60 percent hit rate needed vs. DraftKings’ overnight line of 1P Over 1.5 -150 and even better if you’re able to get the -140 at BetMGM and hopefully other books early on Tuesday.
Good luck today (and every day!).
