In the meantime, let's discuss where smart money is leaning for tonight's NBA playoff action...
7 p.m. ET: Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat
This is Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first round. The Heat lead the series 3-1 after securing a 110-86 win in Game 4, easily covering as 1-point road favorites. Now the series shifts backs to Miami where the Heat can eliminate the Hawks with a victory tonight. This line opened with Miami listed as a 7-point home favorite. The public is rushing to the window to lay the points with the Heat. This lopsided support has pushed Miami up to -7.5 at some shops. We've seen some buyback on Atlanta +7.5, dropping some shops back down to 7. Heat point guard Kyle Lowry will miss this game with a hamstring injury. Pros have also hit the under, dropping the total from 218 to 217.5. Unders are 26-14 (65%) this postseason. Unders that fall at least a half point are 15-9 (63%). The under is a perfect 4-0 this series. Leading 3-1, the Heat are -10000 favorites to win the series. The Hawks are +1600 longshots.
7:30 p.m. ET: Minnesota Timberwolves at Memphis Grizzlies
This series is tied 2-2. The Timberwolves are coming off a 119-118 victory in Game 4, winning outright as 2.5-point home dogs. Now the series shifts back to Memphis. This Game 5 line opened with the Grizzlies listed as a 7-point home favorite. The public is relatively split and doesn't know whether to take the points or lay them. However, we've seen this line fall from 7 to 6. This signals respected money grabbing the Timberwolves as a road dog. The total hasn't budged off the opener of 232.5. The over/under is 2-2 this series. High totals of 225 or more are 9-3 (75%) to the under this postseason. With the series tied 2-2, the Grizzlies are -350 favorites to advance. The Timberwolves are +260 dogs.
10 p.m. ET: New Orleans Pelicans at Phoenix Suns
This series is tied 2-2. The Pelicans just crushed the Suns 118-103 in Game 4, easily winning outright as 2-point home dogs. Now the series shifts back to Phoenix. This pivotal Game 5 line opened with the Suns listed as 7-point home favorite. We've seen this line fall from 7 to 6.5, signaling pro money grabbing the points with the road dog Pelicans. Once again, the Suns will miss star guard Devin Booker with a hamstring injury. Sharps have also leaned under, dropping the total from 216 to 215.5. The over is 3-1 this series. With the series tied 2-2, Phoenix is now a -275 favorite to advance. New Orleans is +220.
