In the meantime, let's discuss several MLB games receiving sharp action today...

6:40 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Dodgers (40-25) at Cincinnati Reds (23-43)

Both of these non-division NL foes are looking to bounce back from series losses. The Dodgers just dropped two of three at home against the Guardians while the Reds just got swept at home by the Brewers. In tonight's series opener, Los Angeles starts righty Tony Gonsolin (8-0, 1.42 ERA) and Cincinnati sends out fellow righty Tyler Mahle (2-5, 4.46 ERA). This line opened with the Dodgers listed as a -185 road favorite and the Reds a +170 home dog. Pros aren't scared off by the expensive price and have steamed Los Angeles up from -185 to -195. Non-division road favorites are 129-69 (65%) this season. When both teams just had a day off, as is the case here, the favorite is 55-27 (67%). Favorites off a loss who made the playoffs the previous season are 132-66 (67%). The Dodgers are 39-25 as a favorite, 20-13 on the road and 26-17 against righties. The Reds are 17-31 as a dog, 12-20 at home and 16-31 against righties. The Dodgers have a team ERA of 2.91. The Reds sit at 5.22. Los Angeles is 4-0 against Cincinnati this season.

7:05 p.m. ET: Chicago Cubs (25-42) at Pittsburgh Pirates (27-39)

The Pirates took last night's series opener 12-1, cruising as -110 home favorites. In tonight's rematch, Chicago hands the ball to righty Matt Swarmer (1-2, 5.23 ERA) and Pittsburgh counters with fellow righty Roansy Contreras (1-1, 3.06 ERA). This line opened with the Pirates listed as a short -130 home favorite and the Cubs a +110 road dog. Pros have laid the chalk with the Pirates, steaming Pittsburgh up from -130 to -150. The Pirates are 8-6 as a favorite this season. The Cubs are 18-29 as a dog. Pittsburgh is 6-4 against Chicago this season. We could also be looking at another high scoring game, as the total is 8.5 with the over juiced to -120. The forecast calls for high 80s with 5-10 MPH winds blowing out to center.

7:10 p.m. ET: Detroit Tigers (26-41) at Boston Red Sox (37-31)

The Red Sox took care of business in last night's series opener, winning 5-2 as -180 home favorites. Boston is now 14-4 over their last 18 games. In tonight's rematch, Detroit taps righty Beau Brieske (1-5, 3.79 ERA) and Boston trots out veteran lefty Rich Hill (2-4, 4.42 ERA). This line opened with the Red Sox listed as a -165 home favorite and the Tigers a  140 road dog. Pros have hammered Boston, steaming the Red Sox up from -165 to -185. Favorites who made the playoffs the previous season against teams who did not are 272-147 (65%) this season. Boston is 23-14 as a favorite and 18-16 at home. The Tigers are 19-32 as a dog and 8-19 on the road. The Red Sox will lean on their bats, hitting .258 as a team while the Tigers are hitting just .224. Boston is +50 in run differential. Detroit is -95. The Red Sox are 3-1 against the Tigers this season.
