Tennis best bets for Wimbledon Women's Final - Saturday, July 15th

Wimbledon is the third major of the tennis season and it's arguably the most prestigious of the four. The All England Club in London, England is one of the most beautiful venues that the sport has to offer, and the exclusive nature of grass-court tennis gives it a different feel than the rest. With that out of the way, I'm hoping to continue dishing out winners over the final two days, so make sure you keep reading for my tennis best bet for Saturday, July 15th. This one focuses on the women's final in which Ons Jabeur takes on Marketa Vondrousova.

Marketa Vondrousova vs. Ons Jabeur

If you’ve been following along with our tennis best bets, you’ve probably made a decent amount of money betting on both Vondrousova and Jabeur. But the two unfortunately must go to battle in the Wimbledon final, and we can only pick one. Or can we? I originally liked Vondrousova to win a set at -145 odds, but that has since gone up to -185. Instead, I’m playing the Over on the total of 21.5 games.

The reality is that the two bets really aren’t that different. A part of me expects Jabeur to win this match and claim her first Grand Slam title. But I don’t see the Tunisian doing it without a big push from Vondrousova, who hasn’t gotten enough credit for what she has done at Wimbledon thus far. Not only has the lefty beaten Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina in her last two matches, but she has also earned wins over Donna Vekic and Veronika Kudermetova. Those last two were players that people liked as sleepers coming into Wimbledon.

Given how well Vondrousova has played at this tournament, I just don’t see a scenario in which she goes down in straight sets. And if this thing goes to three, this Over will hit pretty easily. And it can also hit if they play two lengthy sets. But how can you ignore that Vondrousova is 3-2 in five career meetings with Jabeur, with two of them coming this year? I know they came at inopportune times for Jabeur, who was dealing with injuries around the time of both matches. But wins are wins.

Vondrousova is also a player that just makes opponents work extremely hard. She plays good defense, in addition to having power and variety when she’s on the offensive. So, there’s not going to be any quit in her. And I also wonder how Jabeur will deal with being a sigifnicant favorite in this match. She was an underdog in each of her previous three rounds, and that gave her the opportunity to go out and play freely. But there’s a different pressure that comes with being expected to win, and I think she’ll have a little trouble dealing with that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jabeur drops the first set and then comes back to win. But regardless of who wins, I see this being an epic three-set final.
