Taylor Fritz vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas

This is a pretty tough matchup for Fritz, who hasn’t proven himself to be a strong clay-court player. The American is a solid mover on hard-court surfaces, but he isn’t nearly as graceful as Tsitsipas on the dirt. And a game predicated on power isn’t rewarded the same way on clay as it is on hard courts. Fritz’s powerful shots from the baseline are going to slow down a bit and give Tsitsipas some time to track them down. The same goes for Fritz’s serve, and Tsitsipas is a good returner to begin with.

Fritz has also lost two matches in a row against Tsitsipas, and this is probably the tournament that brings out the very best in the Greek star. Tsitsipas has won this tournament twice in his career, and he probably feels great about his chances of winning it a third time. Tsitsipas has been dealing with nagging injuries throughout the 2023 season, but he looked great in a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nicolas Jarry last round. And Tsitsipas has also spent less than two hours on the court this week, so he’s going to have fresh legs later on in this match. That’s very important on a surface that is so demanding on your legs.

While it’d be nice to just back Tsitsipas on the moneyline, the value isn’t there. So, we’re playing him to cover a 2.5-game spread. He should be able to find some break point opportunities throughout this one, and 2.5 really isn’t a big number. However, it’s also not a bad idea to parlay this with another heavy favorite.

Bet: Tsitsipas -2.5 Games (-135)
