ATP Monte-Carlo Masters: Tennis best bets for Davidovich Fokina vs. Khachanov, Draper vs. Hurkacz – Tuesday, April 11th

The ATP Monte-Carlo Masters tournament is the first Masters 1000 event of the season that is played on a clay-court surface. We’re fresh off the Sunshine Double, which featured some of the best talents in the world competing in 1000-level events on the hard courts of Indian Wells and Miami. But we’re now gearing up for the 2023 French Open, so get used to seeing a lot of red clay over the next couple of weeks. With this being yet another massive event in the tennis season, VSiN is here to provide you with daily tennis best bets. So, keep reading to find out what Zachary Cohen is betting on the tennis schedule for Tuesday, April 11th. Also, check out our tennis odds page to see the lines on all of the day’s matches.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs. Karen Khachanov

Davidovich Fokina recently topped Khachanov in a tight three-set match at Indian Wells, where the Spaniard earned a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory on March 12th. Now, Davidovich Fokina is listed as an underdog against Khachanov on clay, and it’s pretty damn difficult to figure out why. While the courts at Indian Wells don’t play as fast as they do at other hard-court events, it still is a hard-court tournament. That should have favored Khachanov at least a little, but Davidovich Fokina is the stronger of these two players when it comes to the dirt.

Clay is the only surface in which Davidovich Fokina has a winning record at the ATP level, and it isn’t surprising when you consider that he grew up on the dirt. The 23-year-old is just familiar with all the little nuances that help you win a match in which it’s difficult to hit winners, and Monte-Carlo might be the slowest of all the clay-court tournaments.

Look for Davidovich Fokina’s movement and point construction to stand out a bit against Khachanov here, and don’t be surprised if the Russian gets a little frustrated by how hard it will be for him to hit the ball by the Spaniard. This might not be an easy win for Davidovich Fokina, but the wrong player is favored here. With that said, you must jump on the 23-year-old at plus-money odds.

Bet: Davidovich Fokina ML (+105)

Jack Draper vs. Hubert Hurkacz

It’s wild to see that Draper is this big of an underdog against Hurkacz. While Hurkacz is currently the 12th-ranked player in the world, he is just 3-4 in his last seven matches, and he is fresh off a first-round loss to Bernabe Zapata Miralles in Estoril. Now, Hurkacz must face a player that has all the tools to give him trouble here.

While Hurkacz’s biggest asset is his power and ability to move, Draper is rather similar. However, the Brit arguably packs even more punch, and there’s no reason to believe he can’t beat Hurkacz on clay. This has been the Pole’s worst surface throughout his career, and you now have to combine that with his recent run of poor form. With that in mind, things don’t look great for Hurkacz.

The only thing that worries me about Draper is that he has struggled with his health over the last few years. So, if you have the option to, you might want to bet him on a sportsbook that would void the match if he doesn’t end up finishing it. But outside of that, this seems like Draper’s match to lose. Getting these odds is only an added bonus.

Bet: Draper ML (+130)
