Team Tuley's Thoroughbred Takes for races on Saturday 10/22

We know everyone (at least it seems like everyone, or at least everyone in our world) is immersed in the football season with wall-to-wall college football on Saturdays, but Team Tuley is still looking for value at tracks from coast to coast as we’re heading toward the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in two weeks.

Last Saturday, Rampart race and sports book manager Duane Colucci carried us as he gave out a $309.25 Pick 4.

This Saturday, I’m joined by Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed from his Keeneland Play of the Day column at VSiN.com/horses) as he continues to supply us with more plays here as we have selections at Belmont-at-Big-A, Laurel Park and Keeneland.

Good luck today (and every day).

SATURDAY

Keeneland Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #5 Catskill Humor (4-1 morning line). “Top trainer Brad Cox sends out expensive daughter of Practical Joke in a $100,000 maiden special weight sprint. Filly has been firing bullet works at Ellis Park and appears poised to win at first asking. Journeyman jock Florent Geroux climbs aboard. Take my horse, please. Wager: Win and bet in Daily Doubles with 3 and 8 in next race.”

Keeneland Race No. 6 (3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes a cold Exacta Box of #3 Artorius (5-2 morning line) with Geroux and #8 Gunite (6-5) with Tyler Gaffalione in the ungraded Perryville Stakes.

Dave Tuley likes #4 Pinehurst (20-1 morning  line). “This 3-year-old colt didn’t run in our country’s Triple Crown but did win the UAE Derby. In his last race, Pinehurst led for four furlongs and stopped (setting up Gunite, the favorite here), but we can excuse that after returning from Dubai. He looks like the lone speed and can steal this under John Velazquez. Wager: Win and Place (and box in Exactas and Trifectas with Sehon’s two chalky picks).”

Belmont-at-the-Big-A Race No. 7 (3:48 p.m. ET/12:48 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #8 Unanimous Consent (6-1 morning line) in the Grade 3 Hill Prince Stakes. “This colt won his first three career races from off the pace (including only race over this course at Aqueduct). He then stepped into graded stakes competition this summer and had two fourth-place finishes, which is why we think we’re getting a decent price for a Chad Brown trainee. But we think he fits with these and should be poised for a late run. Wager: Win and Place.”

Keeneland Races Nos. 7-10 (4:12 p.m. ET/1:12 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes a $.50 Pick 4 (cost $72)

Race 7: 2,3,6,11

Race 8: 1,5,10

Race 9: 2,5,7,8

Race 10: 5,7,12

Laurel Race No. 11 (5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #11 Monday Morning Qb (15-1 morning line) in the $150,000 Maryland Million Classic Stakes. “My main concern is if Monday Morning Qb can get over from one of the outside posts to grab the lead like he obviously wants. If he does that, he can steal this at a nice price. I also like that he has 2 wins from 3 career starts at the track, plus a runner-up finish. Trainer Norman Cash is also hitting at 21% with horses second off of a claim as he tries to find the right level. Wager: Win and Place.”

Keeneland Race No. 9 (5:16 p.m. ET/2:16 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #5 Fingal’s Cave (4-1 morning line). “Undefeated (4-0), NY-bred daughter of Carpe Diem leaves the friendly confines of the Empire State to take on deep field of more accomplished gals in Grade 2, $350,000 Raven Run Stakes. Solid trainer David Donk hires skillful Joel Rosario to ride. She’s no loser. Wager: Win and box top and bottom with 2,7,8.”

PRO TIPS & PICKS

A Numbers Game: Be careful betting baseball games right now, if they don’t involve teams still trying to make the playoffs. Teams that have clinched or teams that are completely out of it will be approaching games far differently. View more tips.
