We know everyone (at least it seems like everyone, or at least everyone in our world) is immersed in the football season with wall-to-wall college football on Saturday, but Team Tuley is still looking for value at tracks from coast to coast as we’re heading toward the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in three weeks.
This Saturday, we have our whole team together as I’m joined by my friends, Duane Colucci, race and sports book manager at the Rampart; Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed from his Keeneland Play of the Day column at VSiN.Com) as he continues to supply us with more plays here; and John Lauro. We have plays at Belmont-at-the-Big-A, Keeneland and Santa Anita as we live up to our promise of looking for value from coast to coast.
Good luck today (and every day).
SATURDAY
Keeneland Races Nos. 1-2 (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes a straight Daily Double
Race 1: #7 Second of July (9-2 morning line)
Race 2: #11 Evaluate (3-1)
Keeneland Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes a foursome consisting of #2 Mouillage (2-1 morning line), #4 In Love (3-1), #7 Greyes Creek (15-1) and #8 Winfromwithin (4-1). Wager: $1 Exacta Box and, if you cashed a Daily Double ticket, $1 Trifecta Box.
Keeneland Race No. 6 (3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes #8 Forever After All (7-2 morning line). “This 3-year-old router cuts back to 1 1/16 miles in effort to break her maiden in fourth career start for superb trainer Al Stall Jr. With a record sporting three consecutive Place finishes, I’m betting it won’t take her longer than today – certainly not forever – to find the Winner’s Circle. Wager: Win and Place.”
Belmont-at-Aqueduct Races Nos. 7-10 (3:50 p.m. ET/12:50 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes a $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $64)
Race 7: 1,2,3,4
Race 8: 3,6,8,9
Race 9: 2,3,5,9
Race 10: 2,9
Keeneland Races Nos. 7-10 (4:12 p.m. ET/1:12 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes a $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $72)
Race 7: 4,9,11
Race 8: 1,2,5,6
Race 9: 2,4,5,6
Race 10: 7,9,10
Duane Colucci likes a $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $45)
Race 7: 4,6,7,11,12
Race 8: 1,2,6
Race 9: 2,5,6
Race 10: 10,11
Belmont-at-the-Big-A Race No. 9 (4:58 p.m. ET/1:58 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes #3 Eminent Victor (3-1 morning line) in the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes. “She was the victim of a horrendous trip in The Lake Placid. She’s had steady workouts since and a new pilot in Manny Franco. He and trainer Chad Brown hit at a 27% clip when combining and a $2.41 ROI. Bet 3 to Win and key 3 over 2,5,9 in Exactas and Trifectas and reverse.”
Dave Tuley likes #5 Spirit And Glory (8-1 morning line). “This 3-year-old filly has won 2-of-3 races since coming over from Ireland and should be running late. Trainer Robert Falcone is hitting 21% on the year and even better at this meet. He gets underrated jock Dylan Davis, which is fine with us as that should help us get this price. Wager: Win and Place.”
Santa Anita Race No. 3 (5:04 p.m. ET/2:04 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes #2 Rose Dawson (5-1 morning line) in the California Distaff Handicap. “This should be a distance fit for this 3-year-old. She was a little geared up in the paddock prior to her last race and she ran out of gas. Rose Dawson has a win and a place over this course and has down-the-hill experience She will have to catch Leggs Galore in the stretch, but jockey J.J. Hernandez knows what to do. Bet 2 to Win and key 2 over 1,3,4 in Exactas and Trifectas.”
Keeneland Race No. 9 (5:16 p.m. ET/2:16 p.m. PT)
John Lauro likes #7 Paris Peacock (10-1) in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup. “Invader is the class of the field with the defection of Spendarella. Play straight Exactas with 7 over #5 Bellabel (5-1) and #6 McKulick (1-1). Also, I’ll play the tri with 7 over 5 and 6.”
Dave Tuley likes #1 California Angel (15-1 morning line). “I agree with Lauro that this race is wide-open with Spendarella out. McKulick is the even-money favorite, but I’m taking a flier on California Angel, who should be able to get a ground-saving trip from the rail and have enough left turning for home. Wager: Win and Place.”
Belmont-at-the-Big-A Race No. 10 (5:26 p.m. ET/2:26 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #13 Madrliena (6-1 morning line). “This 5-year-old mare is on the also-eligible list, so we hope she draws in as she would have a great chance to sit off the early pace and have a late kick turning for home under jockey Javier Castellano (1-for-1 with trainer Paulo Lobo). Wager: Win and Place.”
Santa Anita Race No. 4 (5:35 p.m. ET/2:35 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes #3 Kirstenbosch (4-1 morning line). “This 3-year-old filly tuned up with a nice win over the main track at Del Mar and now returns to turf at the same distance she broke her maiden. Top rider J.J. Hernandez retains the mount. Kirstenbosch had a blistering :58.1 workout for this, which is usually a good sign she’ll go as far as she goes on the lead. Bet 3 to Win and key 3 over 2,4,5 in Exactas, Trifectas and reverse.”
Keeneland Race No. 10 (5:48 p.m. ET/2:48 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #3 Hooperdrivesthboat (20-1 morning line). “Now, obviously the 2-1 favorite, #7 Feast (2-1 morning line) is expected to set the pace and wire this field – and if he breaks on top, that’s what he’s likely to do. However, if he doesn’t fire, that’s where we think #3 Hooperdrivesthboat comes in and can steal this. Bet 3 to Win and Place, though let’s also box the 3-7 in Exactas boxes in case these two run together and pull away from the field.”
