LAS VEGAS – For the first time since Week 1, we have a new leader in the SuperContest Gold, the inaugural $5,000-per-entry contest hosted by the Westgate SuperBook.
The entrant using the alias BKSF started 9-1 after the first two weeks of the NFL season to take the Gold lead and was 24-6 (80%) after six weeks and opened up a four-point lead after Week 7; however, BKSF went 0-5 in Week 12 and has fallen half a point (note: SC players earn 1 point per win and half a point per push) behind BrettFavre444, who went 5-0 in Week 12 and stands at 36-23-1 (61%) on the season. Michael Peffercorn, who has been a distant second behind BKSF since Week 9, had a chance to tie BrettFavre444 for the lead if the Ravens covered as 7-point favorites on the SC line on Monday night, but when the Ravens beat the Texans 23-16 to push the SC spread, that put Michael Peffercorn into a tie for second with BKSF with 36 points.
The regular SuperContest (the $1,500-entry contest that drew a record 2,748 entries this year) also has a change at the top of the leaderboard. Grannys Boy and former leader BioSoft Global were tied for first place with 41 points through Sunday's action, but Grannys Boy also had the Ravens on Monday night to take over sole possession of the lead at 40-17-3 (70.2%) for 41.5 points. Last week’s leader, Grand Dragon, went 2-3 in Week 12 to fall into a three-way tie for third place at 40 points with The Ville and Seoul Cycle (note: HowDoIPlay XX could have made it a four-way tie with a Ravens' cover but sits alone in sixth place at 39.5 points after the push).
The Top 5 Consensus plays, which have been struggling all season in both the Classic and the Gold contests, had their second straight good week as the Top 5 in the Classic went 3-2 while the Top 5 in the Gold went 5-1 (by way of explanation, the Top 4 plays all covered and then the Bills and Dolphins tied for the No. 5 spot and split, so I’m counting all six as “Top 5” plays this week).
