In the meantime, let's discuss where the money is flowing for today's NBA playoff games...
1 p.m. ET: New York Knicks at Atlanta Hawks
This is Game 4 of the Eastern Conference first round. The Hawks lead the series 2-1. The two teams split the first two games in New York. Then Atlanta posted a 105-94 win in Game 3, covering as 4.5-point home favorites. In this afternoon's Game 4, the Hawks opened as 5-point home favorites. The public is all over the Hawks laying another short line at home. However, despite this lopsided betting we've seen Atlanta fall from -5 to -4.5. This indicates sharp reverse line movement on the road dog Knicks plus the points. The total was set at a low 209.5. The public is hammering the over, yet it's falling slightly to 209. This signals some sharp under money. The under is 3-0 this series, with final combined scores of 199, 193 and 212. Up 2-1, the Hawks are -300 favorites to win the series at BetMGM. The Knicks are %plussign$0 underdogs.
3:30 p.m. ET: Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers
This is Game 4 of the Western Conference first round. The Lakers lead the series 2-1. After dropping the opener, Los Angeles has won two straight, including a 109-95 win in Game 3 in which they easily covered as 6.5-point home favorites. It this afternoon's rematch, the Lakers opened as 6.5-point home favorites. The public is split down the middle and doesn't know whether to take the points or lay them. However, all liability appears to be on the Lakers as we've seen this line briefly tick up to -7 before falling back down to 6.5. The total opened at 210 and has dipped to 209.5, signaling some wiseguy under money. The under is 2-1 this series. Leading 2-1, the Lakers are -600 favorites to win the series. The Suns are %plussignG5 dogs. One big injury to monitor is the status of Phoenix star Chris Paul. He is questionable with a shoulder injury.
7 p.m. ET: Brooklyn Nets at Boston Celtics
This is Game 4 of the Eastern Conference first round. After falling behind 0-2 in the series, the Celtics roared back with a 125-119 win in Game 3, winning outright as 7.5-point home dogs. In tonight's Game 4, the Nets opened as 6.5-point road favorites. The public is rushing to the window to back the Nets in a bounce back spot. But they don't appear to be alone as some respected money has also hit Brooklyn, driving the line up from Nets -6.5 to -7. Playoff favorites are 20-12 (62.5%) this postseason. Road favorites are 6-1 ATS (85.7%). Pros have also leaned on this under, forcing oddsmakers to drop this total slightly from 229.5 to 229. With a 2-1 series lead, the Nets are -5000 favorites to advance. The Celtics are %plussign00 to come back and win the series.
9:30 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Clippers at Dallas Mavericks
This is Game 4 of the Western Conference first round. The Mavericks lead the series 2-1. After losing the first two games at home, the Clippers responded with a 118-108 victory in Game 3, covering as 3-point road favorites. In tonight's pivotal Game 4, the Clippers opened as 2.5-point road favorites. Pros and Joes both seem to be backing Los Angeles to tie the series, as we've seen the Clippers tick up from -2.5 to -3. Short favorites -5 or less have gone 14-5 ATS (74%) this playoffs. We've also seen some sharp action target the under. The total opened at 222 and has fallen to 221 despite a majority of bets taking the over. This signals some sharp reverse line movement on the under. Despite being down 2-1, the Clippers are slight -115 favorites to win the series. The Mavericks are -105. This series is %plussign`0 to go five games, %plussign0 to go six games and %plussign0 to go seven games. One big injury to monitor here is the health of Dallas star Luka Doncic. He is listed as questionable with a neck injury.
