In the meantime, let's discuss where the money is flowing for several Sunday MLB matchups today.
1:07 p.m. ET: Detroit Tigers (59-66) at Toronto Blue Jays (64-57)
After dropping the series opener 4-1 as hefty -280 home favorites, the Blue Jays rebounded with a 3-0 victory on Saturday, cashing as -250 home favorites. In this early afternoon rubber match, Detroit taps righty Drew Hutchinson (0-1, 10.80 ERA) and Toronto rebuttals with lefty Steven Matz (10-7, 4.08 ERA). This line opened with the Blue Jays listed as -210 home favorites and the Tigers a 190 home dog. Sharps aren't scared off by the expensive chalk price and have steamed the Jays up from -210 to -230. Teams receiving 15-cents of steam or more off a win are 217-146 (60%) this season. Home favorites -200 or more are 147-55 (73%). The Jays are 32-25 at home. The Tigers are 26-36 away. Toronto is hitting .264 this season, which ranks 2nd-best in MLB. Detroit is hitting .241, which ranks 15th.
2:10 p.m. ET: Washington Nationals (53-69) at Milwaukee Brewers (75-49)
These non-division foes have split the first two games of the series, with the Nationals taking the opener 4-1 at 165 road dogs and then the Brewers bouncing back with a 9-6 victory yesterday as -220 home favorites. In tonight's rubber match, the Nats start lefty Sean Nolin (0-1, 12.00 ERA) and the Brewers counter with righty Adrian Houser (7-5, 3.55 ERA). This line opened with Milwaukee listed as a -205 home favorite and Washington a 185 home dog. Pros aren't outsmarting themselves on this one. They're backing the better team with the starting pitching advantage, steaming Milwaukee up from -205 to -220. Big favorites -200 or more coming off a win are 121-40 (75%) this season. Milwaukee is 57-38 as a favorite. Washington is 22-51 as a dog. The Brewers are 33-28 at home. The Nats are 22-36 at home. We could also be looking at a higher scoring game in this one. The total is 9 with the over juiced to -120.
7:10 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels (62-63) at Cleveland Indians (60-61)
This game takes place at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa. The Indians have taken the first two games of this series, winning the opener 9-1 as -120 home favorites and then winning again on Saturday 5-1 as -130 home favorites. In this Sunday Night Baseball showdown, Los Angeles hands the ball to lefty Jose Suarez (5-6, 3.88 ERA) and Cleveland counters with righty Cal Quantrill (3-2, 3.24 ERA). This line opened with the Indians listed as a short -130 home favorite and the Angels a 120 road dog. The public is split and doesn't know who to back. But we've seen wiseguys back the Indians to complete the sweep, steaming Cleveland up from -130 to -137. Non-division home favorites are 397-246 (62%) this season. Historically, we've seen favorites and favorites with line moves in their direction be profitable bets on Sunday Night Baseball. The Indians are 4-1 against the Angels this season.
