Sunday MLB Sharp Report (6-20)

June 20, 2021 02:34 AM

Today the weekend wraps up with 16 MLB games, 2 NBA playoff games and 1 NHL Stanley Cup playoff game. For extensive Sunday betting analysis and line move updates, be sure to join Michael Lombardi, Patrick Meagher and myself this morning LIVE from 10 a.m.-noon ET on The Lombardi Line. We'll also be joined by VSiN's Will Hill and check in with our good friend Thomas Gable at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

In the meantime, let's discuss where the money is flowing for several MLB games today...

1:05 p.m. ET: New York Mets (36-28) at Washington Nationals (32-36)

These two NL East foes split Saturday's doubleheader, with the Mets winning the early game 5-1 as + 115 road dogs and then the Nats bouncing back with a 6-2 win as -115 home favorites in the nightcap. In today's series finale, the Mets start righty Taijuan Walker (6-2, 2.12 ERA) and the Nats counter with lefty Patrick Corbin (4-5, 5.60 ERA). This line opened with New York listed as a slight -115 road favorite and Washington a + 105 home dog. Respected money takes one look at the pitching matchup and is hammering the Mets, which has steamed New York up from -115 to -125. The Mets are 24-14 as a favorite this season. The Nats are 10-24 as a dog. New York is 16-11 (59%) following a loss. We've also seen some over money come in. The total opened at 8 and the over is being juiced to -115 or -120. Some books are already rising up to 8.5. The forecast calls for mid 80s with 10 MPH winds blowing out to center.

1:05 p.m. ET: Toronto Blue Jays (34-35) at Baltimore Orioles (23-47)

These AL East rivals have split the first two games of the series. The Orioles stole the opener 7-1, cashing bigly as + 180 home dogs. Then the Jays posted a 10-7 win on Saturday, winning as -155 road favorites. In this afternoon's series finale, Toronto sends out ace lefty Hyun Jin Ryu (5-4, 3.43 ERA) and veteran righty Matt Harvey (3-8, 7.76 ERA). This line opened with Toronto listed as a hefty -190 road favorite and Baltimore a + 175 home dog. Both Pros and Joes are teaming up for "Fade Harvey Day" and big money has pushed the Jays up from -190 to -200. Some shops are closer to -210. The Orioles are just 1-7 over Harvey's last eight starts. Big favorites -200 or more coming off a win are 47-15 (76%) this season. Baltimore has struggled against lefties, going 9-15. Sharp money has also hit the over, driving the total up from 9.5 to 10. The forecast calls for high 80s with 8 MPH winds blowing out to right center.

1:05 p.m. ET: Oakland Athletics (44-28) at New York Yankees (37-33)

These non-division opponents have split the first two games of the series. The Athletics won the opener 5-3 as + 125 road dogs and then the Yankees bounced back with a 7-5 on Saturday, cashing as -125 home favorites. In today's series finale, Oakland gives the ball to lefty Sean Manaea (6-2, 2.99 ERA) and the Yankees counter with fellow southpaw Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 4.20 ERA). This line opened with New york listed as a -125 home favorite and Oakland a + 115 road dog. The public sees a no brainer with Oakland, who has a better record, a superior pitcher on paper and is also getting plus money. However, despite this lopsided betting on Oakland, we've actually seen the line move further to New York (-125 to -135). This signals some sharp reverse line movement on the Yankees with pros fading the trendy dog. Non-division home favorites like the Yankees have gone 238-142 (63%). We could be looking at a higher scoring game. Pros pounced on the over 9.5 early, pushing the total up to 10. The forecast calls for mid 80s with 10 MPH winds blowing out to center.
