The Big Ten/ACC Challenge will be decided on Wednesday and NC State will look to both help its profile, and also that of the ACC, as the Wolfpack host Nebraska on Dec. 1.
Nebraska Cornhuskers at NC State Wolfpack (-6.5, 147)
(stats as of Tuesday morning)
It is a revenge game for Wolfpack reserve Thomas Allen, who made 15 starts for NC State last season after beginning his career at Nebraska. He has missed two games this season, but will play this one, as the team deals with the absence of starting center Manny Bates. That loss leaves NC State with just four players averaging more than 3.7 points per game.
Nebraska’s Achilles' heel has been the 3-point arc, on both offense and defense. The Cornhuskers rank 301st in the country in 3-point shooting percentage against Division I competitors and 44.5 percent of the points they allow are from 3-point range, which is 355th out of 358 teams.
Both teams have taken care of the ball, with NC State 10th in the country in percentage of possessions that end in a turnover and Nebraska is 22nd, but NC State is allowing plenty of second chances. Opponents have had a second chance on 30.9 percent of their missed shots, which is 292nd among DI teams.
Because of NC State’s poor ball movement, with the Wolfpack 321st in percentage of made field goals that involve an assist, Nebraska will give NC State all they can handle in Raleigh on Wednesday.
Pick: Nebraska + 6.5
