Peterson: Best bet for Cincinnati vs. Memphis

A lot was expected of the Memphis Tigers this year and thus far the team has not delivered with an 8-5 start. They will look to turn it around at home against Cincinnati on Sunday.

The Tigers have been solid on defense, forcing a turnover on 25 percent of possessions in hone games and ranking 49th in points allowed on a per-possession basis.

Cincinnati has been better on a points allowed per possession basis ranking 26th, but are struggling from the outside, ranking 322nd nationally in 3-point shooting percentage.

Free throws have been crucial for Memphis’ offense as they rank 84th in free throws attempted per field goal shot attempt while Cincinnati is giving up 22.4 percent of points from made free throws, the 18th-highest percentage in the country.

With Memphis getting an offensive rebound on 36 percent of their missed shots, which is 11th among Division I teams, the Tigers will send a message on Sunday.
