Projected Starting Goaltenders

No goaltenders are confirmed unless otherwise stated. Projections are based on factors like rest, venue, opponent and upcoming games. Projected starters underlined.

  • Minnesota – The Flyers play the Ducks tomorrow, Samuel Ersson already has a win over Anaheim. Carter Hart is expected to start in Boston.
  • Washington – Charlie Lindgren is expected to start the second half of the back-to-back.
  • Florida – Spencer Knight was expected to miss three games with injury, and he has. However, Alex Lyon backed up Sergei Bobrovsky in Monday’s win over the Sabres and head coach Paul Maurice might choose to go back to him Tuesday in Toronto.
  • Toronto – Matt Murray is confirmed.
  • Winnipeg – The Jets are about to play five road games in 10 days and David Rittich is bound to start a couple of those games. This could be one of those games, but Connor Hellebuyck is the projected goaltender until reports suggest otherwise.
  • Montreal – Jake Allen is still listed as day-to-day. Samuel Montembeault is the projected starter.
  • Anaheim – Anthony Stolarz is projected to start the second half of Anaheim’s back-to-back.
  • Philadelphia – Carter Hart was pulled midway through Monday’s game against the Bruins, and that makes it tougher to predict whom head coach John Tortorella will start in goal. For now, Samuel Ersson is the projected starter.
  • Seattle – Philipp Grubauer picked up a win against the Lightning on Monday, so Martin Jones will likely start on Tuesday in Edmonton.
  • Edmonton – Stuart Skinner should be back in the crease for the Oilers.
  • Columbus – Joonas Korpisalo is listed as day-to-day, so Daniil Tarasov is the projected starter for now.
  • Nashville – Kevin Lankinen is back on the roster after recovering from an injury.
  • Buffalo – I’m not sure what the Sabres’ plan with Eric Comrie is, but 41-year-old Craig Anderson can’t sit for too long.
  • Chicago – Alex Stalock is expected to start.
  • Detroit – Magnus Hellberg has been confirmed.
  • Arizona – Karel Vejmelka is the projected starter.

Injury Updates

Check out the VSiN NHL Injury Report.

  • Edmonton – Evander Kane is expected to return to the Oilers lineup on Tuesday after having his wrist cut by a skate blade back on Nov. 8. Kane was originally expected to miss three to four months but will return as soon as he is cleared by team doctors.
  • Seattle – Jaden Schwartz is still listed as day-to-day.
