Today’s Best NHL Bets
Here are today’s best NHL bets:
Florida Panthers (Moneyline) -125
The Panthers are a desperate hockey team. Florida is currently one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, but the latter has four games in hand on the former. It’s not a good spot to be in, and — as a result — there’s a decent chance that we will see Sergei Bobrovsky in goal for the second night in a row. We could see Spencer Knight makes his return to the crease, but the 21-year-old hasn’t played since Jan. 8 and the Panthers don’t seem eager to start him.
However, regardless of which goaltender starts, the Panthers’ chances of beating the Blues in St. Louis are better than the current odds suggest. The rate at which Florida scores goals is finally where it should be given the number of shots and chances the Panthers generate per game, while the Blues grade out as one of the worst offensive (25th) and defensive (30th) teams in the NHL over the past month. The Panthers aren’t very good defensively themselves, but the gap between these teams has grown a lot as of late, and Florida should be priced closer to -140 in this spot.
Tip: Shop around. The Panthers are priced anywhere from -118 to -135.
