Today’s Best NHL Bets
Winnipeg Jets (Moneyline) -110
The Avalanche had had four days off but that’s where rest can turn into rust. Winnipeg has won the last three meetings against Colorado dating back to last season and the latter is still without their best defenseman, Cale Makar, who is expected to be out until the end of the month due to a concussion.
The Jets are 12-4 against Central Division opponents (7-1 at home) mainly due to Connor Hellebuyck having been in goal for all but one game. And, with Colorado sitting just four points back of Winnipeg with three games in hand, I’m willing to bet that the 29-year-old will be back between the pipes on Thursday.
Winnipeg is 20-8 at home this season and even though they’ve been somewhat starved for offense, they’ve been generating loads of scoring chances. The Jets grade out as the fifth-best team in expected goals percentage since Jan. 1st thanks to a top-five offense.
Colorado ranks 13th in expected goals percentage since the start of 2023 and the gap between these two teams isn’t very big. In fact, I’d argue that lately, shooting and saving luck is the only thing separating these two teams.
