Best NHL Player Prop Bets for Monday, February 13th

Today’s NHL schedule features five meaningful games that will shape the playoff picture and there are plenty of player prop betting opportunities. Here are my three favorite NHL player prop bets for Monday, February 13th.

Carter Verhaeghe Over 3.5 Shots (+115) at BetMGM Sportsbook

With four-plus shots in 10 of his last 12 games, it’s nonsensical that Carter Verhaeghe’s odds of hitting that mark are still sitting at +115 heading into Monday’s game against the Minnesota Wild. Both Verhaeghe and his linemate, Matthew Tkachuk, have cashed this prop in each of their last six games, but – since the beginning of November – the former has been generating more shots than any of his teammates.

Not even Tkachuk, who has -140 odds of registering at least four shots on goal, has generated as many shots as his linemate. In fact, Tkachuk has only hit the mark in 50 percent of his games this season, while Verhaeghe has done so in 26 of his last 44 games. That works out to 59 percent, and at this point, we can forget about how went under 3.5 shots in nine of his first 10 games i.e., his odds should be much higher.

Nino Niederreiter Over 2.5 Shots (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook

Predators star Filip Forsberg suffered an apparent head injury in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers but, right now, the team is calling it an upper body injury. Forsberg is currently listed day-to-day and it’s unclear if he will be in the lineup on Monday. If he’s not, there’s only one player that the Predators can lean on, and that’s Nino Niederreiter.

Since the beginning of December, Niederreiter has been the team’s second-best shot generator behind Forsberg. The 30-year-old has only registered three-plus shots in two out of his last seven outings, but he’s produced 10.3 shots per 60 minutes since Dec. 1st. This is already a good spot to target a player like Niederreiter, as Arizona ranks 29th in shots against (per 60) since the start of December, but it will turn into a great spot if Forsberg can’t play, and his ice time is increased.

Barrett Hayton Over 2.5 Shots (+125) at Bet Rivers Sportsbook

Barrett Hayton has a long way to go before he’ll meet the expectations that were set when the Coyotes drafted him fifth overall in 2018, but he should be on everyone’s radar now. Hayton registered three-plus shots on goal in six straight games and nine of his last 13 overall thanks to a spot on the top line and a huge bump in ice time.

Prior to Jan. 1st, Hayton only played 11 (even strength) minutes with Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz. Since Jan. 1st, the trio has logged 185 minutes of even strength ice time together and the returns have been very positive. The Coyotes aren’t a good team, but the top line can make things happen. Especially against a Predators team that ranks 28th in shots against since the start of December.
