Monday Betting Recaps

While underdogs have been barking a lot in all sports lately, favorites dominated Monday with the Vegas Golden Knights easily beating the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals and faves going 7-1 on the MLB card.

 

Let’s get to the specific details with our daily betting recaps, and then update the spread and total records in each current major team sport (including the NBA Finals that don’t resume until Wednesday with Game 3 in Miami).

NHL: Golden Knights routed the Panthers 7-2 on Monday night to take a 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals as they did it as -135 home favorites and also covered puck line of -1.5 +190. The game flew Over the betting total of 5.5 goals just 2:10 into the third period (all three periods also went Over). Faves/home teams/Over went 1-0 on the night. The “zig-zag” (aka “loser of the last”) was 0-1 as Florida lost Game 1 and didn’t bounce back.

More NHL: Favorites/home teams/Overs are all off to 2-0 starts this round. Underdogs dipped to 43-38 overall in Stanley Cup playoffs with 4 games closing pick-’em. Road teams also dipped to 46-39 overall. Over improved slim lead to 43-41-1. The “zig-zag” starts 0-1 this round but still 39-31 overall.

MLB: Faves went 7-1 on Monday with the lone upset by the Astros (+105 in 11-4 win at the Blue Jays). Home teams went 6-2 (Rays were the only road fave and beat the Red Sox 4-1 in a makeup game from June 2). Unders led 4-3-1 with the push in the Pirates’ 5-4 win vs. the A’s with a betting total of 9. On the season, faves lead 514-372 with 13 PKs. Home teams lead 475-422 with 2 neutral-site games. Unders improved slim lead to 434-431-33 with 1 no-action.

NBA (ICYMI): With the Heat upsetting Nuggets in Game 2 on Sunday to even the series at 1-1, faves/dogs are 1-1 SU and ATS in the the NBA Finals with faves dipping to 52-28 SU and 42-37-1 ATS (53.2%) overall in the playoffs with 1 game closing pick-’em. Home teams (also 1-1 SU and ATS) dipped to 49-32 SU and 44-36-1 ATS (55%). Overs retook the lead in totals wagering at 40-39-2. The “zig-zag” started this series 1-0 ATS as the Heat bounced back after losing Game 1 and improved to 36-29-1 ATS (55.4%) overall.
