Welcome to the weekly installment of my “NHL Games To Watch” betting column. I’ll preview some of the marquee games taking place between Thursday and Sunday, targeting some interesting betting spots and looking for potential value.

Washington Capitals @ Boston Bruins

Saturday, Nov. 16 - 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT This is an intriguing matchup between

teams leading their divisions in the Eastern Conference. Washington is on a 12-1 streak to the Over in its last 13 games, scoring at least three goals in each contest. Nine Capitals have registered double-digit points this season, which speaks to the depth on offense. Boston is in the midst of its first three-game losing streak of the season as the Bruins battle injuries, but they are 7-0-1 on home ice. Both teams enter this game having played the night before. Boston has the ninth-ranked penalty kill in the NHL, so the Bruins may have a chance to neutralize a Washington power play that has been on fire. Until the Capitals’ Over streak is broken, I’m compelled to look at betting the Over in this game and may also give a nod to Boston at home.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Saturday, Nov. 16 - 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT The Maple Leafs were expected to be Eastern Conference contenders but have shown a noticeable lack of consistency at 9-6-4. The Leafs have had problems keeping the puck out of their own net, as only Detroit and Florida had allowed more goals in the East. The Leafs are also playing without Mitch Marner for the next several weeks, forcing coach Mike Babcock to juggle his forward lines. The Penguins have shown a bit more consistency, as they are a top-10 team in the NHL in goals allowed and goals scored. The Penguins began this week playing without Sidney Crosby, and his status might be questionable for this game. Crosby was ruled out for games Tuesday and Friday. Defenseman Kris Letang and forward Patric Hornqvist are also out due to injuries. Both teams will be on the second night of B2B games, although Toronto enters off a fierce division rivalry game against Boston. If Toronto beats Boston on Friday night, this could be a nice spot to bet against the Leafs, especially if Crosby returns. Regardless, my lean has to be toward the home team against a Leafs squad that has had a rough time in this spot, going 0-5 on the second night of B2B games.
