Market Report Recap for Tuesday, March 15th

Washington and New York traded the lead a couple of times, but the Capitals eventually picked up the win in the shootout. Hopefully you watched Prime Time Action and grabbed the Jets on the moneyline.

Market Report for Wednesday, March 16th

There are just four games scheduled for Wednesday.

Let’s look at things from a betting perspective:

Columbus Blue Jackets (+ 115) at Ottawa Senators (-135)

Blue Jackets’ forward Boone Jenner is listed as week-to-week and won’t play on Wednesday, but Jakob Voracek, who is listed as day-to-day, was a full participant at practice on Tuesday and is expected to suit up in Ottawa. It’s unclear who the Blue Jackets will start in goal, but several outlets have Elvis Merzlikins listed as the expected starter. Anton Forsberg will start in goal for the Senators, who are still missing forward Drake Batherson due to injury. The Senators have just three wins in their last 10 games, but the Blue Jackets have struggled as well, but they’ve been playing tougher teams. Ottawa ranks 26th on offense and 23rd on defense. Columbus ranks 11th on offense and 30th on defense. My model estimates that the Senators should be priced between -105 and -120 depending on who is in goal for the road team.

Boston Bruins (+ 100) at Minnesota Wild (-120)

The Bruins won another game on Tuesday, improving to 9-2 straight up over their last 11 games, but once again, they had trouble putting a lesser team away. Today presents an interesting opportunity, though. The Minnesota Wild have been one of the worst teams in the league since the All-Star break, but oddsmakers aren’t pricing them as such. Jeremy Swayman is expected to start for the Bruins, and according to my model, the road team should be priced at around -125 if Cam Talbot is in goal for the Wild, and around -110 if Kaapo Kakhonen is between the pipes. Either way, there’s value in taking the dog at even money. Minnesota has only won six of 17 games since Feb. 7th and only one team has allowed more goals on a per 60-minute basis. I’m going to bet as if Kakhonen will be in the crease, but there’s a chance I could add more to my bet later if Talbot ends up getting the start.

Boston Bruins + 100 (half size)

New Jersey Devils (+ 260) at Calgary Flames (-310)

Oliver Kylington was not able to play on Saturday or Sunday, and his status heading into Wednesday’s matchup against the Devils is up in the air. Still, the Flames shouldn’t have much trouble dispatching the Devils. New Jersey is coming off a 6-3 loss in Vancouver on Tuesday, and the Flames have had a couple of days to regroup after playing six games in nine days. It’s unclear who will start in goal for the Flames, but Jacob Markstrom is my guess. The Flames are going to play three games in four days, which means Dan Vladar will probably start on Friday or Saturday. More details to come.

Tampa Bay Lightning (-300) at Seattle Kraken (+ 250)

More details to come.

Bet Summary:

Boston Bruins + 100 (half size)
