Market Report Recap for Saturday, Jan. 14th
The Capitals were the only recommended bet on Saturday, and I’ll take the win. It was a rare occasion where the line did not move in my direction, in fact, it moved significantly in the opposite direction. I did add to my personal stake, though, as -115 was widely available prior to game time. Obviously, it’s not a good sign when the market strongly disagrees with one of my bets, but since it doesn’t happen often, I saw no reason to lose confidence.
Record: 62-57, -0.42 units, -0.4 percent ROI, Avg. Odds -110

Market Report for Sunday, Jan. 16th
There is just one game on the schedule.
Let’s look at things from a betting perspective:
Vancouver Canucks (+ 175) at Washington Capitals (-200)
The Capitals are coming off a strong performance against the Islanders, but they lost T.J. Oshie to yet another injury, and Connor Sheary is not expected to play on Sunday due to COVID. The Canucks, meanwhile, are coming off their third loss in a row, and fourth in their last five games. The latter’s schedule isn’t getting any easier, either. Both teams played road games on Saturday, which means both teams had to travel to Washington in order to play in this game. Ilya Samsonov is expected to get the start in goal for the Capitals, but it’s unclear who the Canucks will start in their crease. Jaroslav Halak was supposed to start in Carolina on Saturday, but he was placed in COVID protocol and Thatcher Demko had to start another game. The Canucks could choose to turn to Michael DiPietro, but I wouldn’t be surprised if head coach Bruce Boudreau decides to go back to Demko, either. I am going to price the game as if DiPietro is going to get the nod, though, and according to my model, the Capitals should be priced around -195.
There are no recommended bets for Sunday currently.
Player Prop Bets for Sunday, Jan. 16th:
Record: 113-111, -11.5 units, -4.3 percent ROI, Avg. Odds -108
Recap: The two recommended player prop bets lasted about four minutes before they lost on Saturday, as Ivan Barbashev set up Ryan O’Reilly for the game’s opening goal. There are no recommended player prop bets for Sunday currently.
