Sources say DB Isaiah Rodgers is player in question

Another NFL player is under investigation for allegedly betting on football, including some of his own team’s games. Colts defensive back and kick returner Isaiah Rodgers Jr. has been named by sources, including ESPN gambling reporter David Purdum and NFL reporter Stephen Holder.

Rodgers is accused of placing approximately 100 bets through a sports betting account under the name of an associate. The Colts released a statement on Monday afternoon that read: “We are aware of the NFL’s investigation and we will have no further comment at this time.”

This is the second time this offseason that the league has investigated players for illegal gambling activities. Back in April, five players were suspended for violations, including four players who were members of the Lions. Wide receivers Quintez Cephus, Jameson Williams, and Stanley Berryhill were part of the probe, along with safety C.J. Moore. Cephus and Moore were suspended indefinitely and later released by the Lions. Berryhill was suspended six games and also released, while Williams will serve his six-game suspension and return later this season.

Falcons WR Calvin Ridley was previously suspended for the entire 2022 season, but was reinstated back in March by the NFL. He’s now a member of the Jaguars.

The league’s bylaws prohibit gambling on the NFL in any manner and also placing bets while at an NFL facility.
