Commanders 2023 schedule makes it hard to buy a quick turnaround

The Washington Commanders are coming off a season in which they went 8-8-1, and they’re hoping that second-year quarterback Sam Howell is the answer under center. The Commanders are rather talented outside the quarterback position, so they can potentially turn some heads if he’s better than expected. But it’s going to be hard for Howell to immediately play well after having spent most of last season on the bench. Washington plays in a division with very good offenses, and the Commanders also happen to have a tough schedule outside of the NFC East.

Washington Commanders schedule this year

The Commanders have one of the tougher schedules in football in 2023. Washington only gets seven opponents that had losing records a year ago, and that includes teams like the Jets, Patriots and Broncos. All three are expected to be a lot better this season, and the Commanders will have to face the three of them on the road. Washington also has to deal with a very late bye week. That means that the Commanders won’t have much time to rest up and heal any minor injuries. Things could get ugly around midseason. One date to keep an eye on is October 5th. That meeting with Chicago is the only primetime game of the season for Washington.
