Lions 2023 schedule paves way for first playoff appearance since 2016

The Detroit Lions are hoping to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they lost 26-6 to the Seattle Seahawks in a Wild Card Game. This Lions team barely missed out on making the postseason last year, but the team went out and added some legitimate studs in the offseason. With Aaron Rodgers now playing for the New York Jets, the NFC North crown is there for the taking. Will the Lions win the division this season? Keep reading for some schedule analysis.

Detroit Lions schedule this year

The Lions are looking to make a splash this year, and their schedule likely won’t be standing in the way of that. Detroit is the favorite to win the NFC North, so the Lions will feel good about their chances against all divisional opponents this season. Detroit also happens to have home games against mediocre teams like the Falcons, Panthers, Broncos, Raiders and Seahawks. All of those games are very winnable. Detroit’s road schedule is a lot tougher, but two or three wins away from home should be enough for the Lions to play in the postseason. Detroit will have a chance to make a statement right off the bat, as the team faces Kansas City in the season’s Thursday night opener.
