NBA Picks Today From Doc's Sports Service

The year was 1971. The 1971 NBA playoffs, wrapping the 25th season of NBA hoops, ended with the Milwaukee Bucks beating the Baltimore Bullets 4-0 in the NBA Finals to win the championship. The Bucks, led by regular season and Finals MVP Lew Alcindor, were in just their third season in existence. Shortly after the season Alcindor ceased to exist, replaced by the name Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The average NBA salary in 1971 was just $90,000 and the highest salary was $400,000. The ABA still existed back then and was considered a threat to the National Basketball Association, with 15 of the 65 basketball players that made over $100,000 per year playing in the ABA.
