College Football Picks Today

The year was 1971. A little coach named Bear Bryant debuted a cutting edge, innovative new offense called the Wishbone at Alabama. Chuck Fairbanks did the same at Oklahoma. But it was Nebraska that would go on to win the second of back-to-back national championships, hammering the Crimson Tide 38-6 in the Orange Bowl. Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado, all from the Big Eight, finished No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in the final college poll. That was also the year that Doc’s Sports started their expert college football picks service.  That was also the only time in college football history three teams from one conference did that. Auburn quarterback Pat Sullivan edged out legendary Cornell running back Ed Marinaro for the Heisman and there were just 13 bowl games that season, including the Astro-Blue Bonnet Bowl.
