Thursday Best Bet Results
It was another winning day overall in and out of the Tuley’s Takes office again on Thursday as we did the “VSiN Best Bets” Kentucky Derby Show as well as a radio show in Ohio, plus wrote 3 separate versions of a story the unprecedented scratching of 3 Derby horses in a single day.
I then also had to post my
Team Tuley picks for today’s Oaks card and
Mr. Ed’s full-card preview at Churchill Downs.
This is why this is one of my busiest weeks of the year (I have 2 more radio shows to do Thursday and at least another one on Friday).
As for my sports bets here, I guess "May the 4th be with you" applied with me as I went 2-0 again on Thursday. I’ve been on fire so much lately that I’m hoping the old “win at sports/lose on horses” axiom doesn’t apply (it's hard to win at both at the same time). On Thursday, we won with the Braves +100 at the Marlins (Braves won 6-3 for my full-game ML Best Bet, as well as leading 4-3 after 5 innings for those who played it that way) and Angels First 5 +115 at Cardinals (Angels jumped out to 10-2 lead, led 11-5 for our First 5 purposes and went on to win 11-7 for the game).
We did lose our unofficial NHL 1P Over parlay as the Kraken-Stars played to a scoreless tie in the first 20 minutes.
We’ll try to stay hot in both race and sports on Friday, which is Cinco de Mayo. I have one NBA home underdog and one MLB First 5 Inning play.
NBA Friday Best Bet
76ers +2 vs. Celtics: The 76ers beat the Celtics in Game 1 without Joel Embiid and then the “zig-zag theory” (aka “loser of the last”) worked with the Celtics easily covering in Game 2 to even the series even though the 76ers had Embiid back. The series now moves to Philadelphia and I see no reason why these two Eastern Conference heavyweight won’t keep trading blows back and forth.
MLB Friday Best Bet
Astros First 5 +120 at Mariners: This is a lukewarm play compared to most of my MLB plays lately. But we like the plus-money with the Astros (16-15) with Cristian Javier vs. the Mariners (15-16). I was hoping to fade the Rangers in a “mini anti-swagger” spot as they just had a 4-game winning streak on Wednesday, but they didn’t have a starting pitcher listed or odds as of this writing early Friday.
