Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Monday, March 6 (odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook):
This season, Joel Embiid has had at least four assists in 28 of the 50 games he has started, according to our Daily Prop Analyzer. Tonight, the big man will look to dish out another four or so in a meeting with the Pacers, who are just 23rd in the NBA in defensive rating. Indiana is also giving up more assists per game to opposing teams than all but two other NBA teams.
Embiid just had a 10-assist game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and that was a big game that the Sixers were able to win. That might incentivize him to pass the ball a little more in this game, too. However, an even better incentive will be not having to meet Myles Turner at the rim more often than he must. Turner is one of the best rim protectors in basketball, so Embiid will have to work for everything when he looks to score. He would be wise to try and get his teammates some easy buckets in order to preserve his energy.
We’re jumping on the Over on Embiid’s assist prop and hoping for some dimes out of the NBA MVP candidate.
Bet: Embiid Over 3.5 Assists (-145)
Trae Young was 0 for 5 from three when the Hawks lost by eight in Miami on Saturday, but it’s hard to bank on a star like him struggling two games in a row. This has been a trying season for Young as a shooter, with the guard shooting just 32.6 percent from behind the three-point line. But Young is shooting 35.0 percent from deep in his career, and he shot 38.2 percent from three last season. With that said, we know the type of shooter he is, and we’re counting on him to get it going in this second consecutive game against the Heat.
Young already had a performance against Miami in which he hit three triples earlier in the season, and the guard also happens to be coming into this one after having hit at least three in two of his last five games. This might not be a mark he hits with regularity, but it is one that he can reach. So, getting him to hit three triples at plus-money odds is good value, especially with some regression to the mean coming after that Saturday disaster.
Bet: Young Over 2.5 Made Threes (+145)
Michael Porter Jr. is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game for the Nuggets this season, and he has been even more impactful on the glass recently. Over the last 10 games, Porter has had at least five rebounds in seven of those contests. And the 24-year-old happens to be coming off a game in which he had eight boards against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
Considering how well Porter has rebounded the basketball, it’s surprising to see his rebound total down at 4.5. But we’ll happily take advantage of a low line, even if it’s a little juiced at -145 odds.
The Raptors also happen to be a team with a lot of size throughout their lineup. While that does mean it will be harder for Porter to grab boards, it also means there will be more of a sense of urgency. If Porter doesn’t do his part on the glass, his team will have trouble winning this game.
Also, since we started tracking player props, the Over is 30-17 when Porter’s rebound total is down at this number. That’s a 63.8 percent hit rate.
Bet: Porter Jr. Over 4.5 Rebounds (-145)
