Playoff Scenario: None
The injury reports for both teams are extremely crowded. Utah is listing Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay, Talen Horton-Tucker, Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, Kelly Olynyk and Collin Sexton as out. Denver’s report is not as clean. Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Porter Jr. are all questionable to play. As we have seen in the last 24 hours, anything can happen when it comes to these lineups, so it's easier to just scratch this game off and move on.
Playoff Scenario: Minnesota’s magic number to clinch the eighth seed in the Western Conference is two. It can finish as high as sixth, but does not control its own destiny to do so.
Karl-Anthony Towns is the biggest name on the injury report for Minnesota, but bettors should expect him to play considering the impact this game has. The Timberwolves can still finish in the bottom half of the play-in bracket, a fate every team would like to avoid. However, as this exact team showed us last Sunday, a need to win does not equate to a guarantee to win. San Antonio has essentially ended its season, and there are eight players set to miss this game. Among them are Doug McDermott, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell, and both Keldon Johnson and Josh Richardson are questionable. Teams in Minnesota’s situation are usually overvalued, but the market doesn’t mind as this is up to -14 consensus.
Playoff Scenario: Los Angeles can clinch at least the seventh seed tonight with a victory. Its magic number for the fifth seed is two.
Only Paul George and Marcus Morris Sr. are listed on the injury report for Los Angeles tonight, but there could be plenty of lineup changes as this game goes along. If the Clippers own an insurmountable lead in the second half bettors can almost guarantee that the starters will be pulled, as this is the first half of a back-to-back and Los Angeles might actually find themselves in a position that necessitates a victory tomorrow to avoid the play-in. It might be frustrating to hear, as it has been a constant message in the last week of the season, but there is nothing worth playing here pre-flop.
