Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic (-3.5, 219)
Detroit might have dropped its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, but it covered bringing its record to 11-1 ATS in its last 12 games. Over the course of these 12 games the Pistons have only been outscored by 2.5 points every 100 possessions, with most of the improvements coming on offense where they’ve put up a 111.5 rating during this run. In the grand scheme of things these are pedestrian numbers, but for a team which has closed as an underdog catching an average of 8.3 points per game during this run those are massive improvements. They are an underdog yet again tonight in Orlando, but for good reason as Cade Cunningham is questionable to play with a non-COVID illness. Impressively, the Pistons covered against Miami without him on the floor so one would think a game against the lowly Magic would be light work regardless of his status, but I would not push my luck. Cunningham has been the driving force behind this run for Detroit by averaging 22.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Without him on the floor their chances diminish drastically, especially against a Magic team that has their own 8-4 ATS run going right now. With Cunningham questionable and March Madness beginning it’s easy to pass on the lone game on the card.
