Mr. Ed's Saratoga bankroll plays for Sunday 8/7

By Ed Sehon  ( handicapper)

Editor's note: last summer, Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed) called this column "Saratoga on (about) $100 a Day," but sometimes had trouble finding plays on the mid-week cards, which put a drain on the bankroll. This summer, Mr. Ed is posting his plays for readers on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Here are his plays for Sunday:

Races 1-2 (1:05 p.m. ET/10:05 a.m. PT)

Race 1: #3 Chiringo (4-1 morning line) and #8 Talkin Pharoah (8-5)

Race 2: #1 Critical Threat (3-1), #3 Blue Jays (7-5) and #5 Majestic Tiger (5-1)

(cost $18)

Race 4 (2:49 p.m. ET/11:49 a.m. PT)

I like a $4 three-horse Exacta Box of #2 Naughty Gal (8-5 morning line), #4 Sabra Tuff (7-2) and #5 Janis Joplin (9-2). It’s naughty — and occasionally nice!

(cost $24)

Races 7-10 (4:29 p.m. ET/1:29 p.m. PT)

I like a $0.50 Pick 4

Race 7: ALL (1-6)

Race 8: 4,5,8

Race 9: 3,4,5

Race 10: 1,10

(cost $54)

Race 8 (5:05 p.m. ET/2:05 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed’s BEST BET is #8 Portilla (9-2 morning line). Main man Al Stall Jr. stretches out 4-year-old sprinting daughter of Dialed In extra furlong in effort to repeat recent Churchill Downs effort, where she just missed to speedy Ari Oakley. A similar move forward puts her and jockey Ricardo Santana in Winner’s Circle. Wager: $10 Win and Place, plus $2 Exacta Box of 4,5,8..

(cost $32)
