Mr. Ed's Keeneland on (about) $100 a Day (Sunday, 4/10)

By Ed Sehon  (VSiN handicapper)

USATSI_18052468

Just like he did during the 40-day Saratoga meet last summer, Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed) will provide VSiN readers with daily picks during the 15-day Keeneland meet that opened Friday and runs through Friday, April 29 (no racing on Mondays, Tuesdays or Easter Sunday, April 17).

Sehon’s selections are meant to give an overview of how to attack each day’s card through the use of Best Bets on individual horses as well as multi-race wagers. He generally tries to do it on a bankroll of (about) $100 a day, though will sometimes go higher on bigger days like Blue Grass Stakes Day.

Sehon is 2-for-2 in providing profitable plays each day of the meet so far as he hit all three of his Win Bets on Saturday with Iron Works ($6.80 to Win, $4.40 to Place), Prevalence ($7 to Win, $4.60 to Place) and Zandon ($6.20 to Win, $3.20 to Place) and went 3-for-4 in the Pick 4 for $130.50 in profits after finishing $18 ahead on Friday.

Race No. 3 (2:04 p.m. ET/11:04 a.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes #8 Distinctlypossible (3-1 morning line). “When red-hot Irad Ortiz Jr. agrees to ride the pricey ($670,000) daughter of Curlin for super conditioner Chad Brown, I pay attention. Brown has a keen ability to spot his horses where he feels they can win, thus they often go off at chalky prices. Making only her third start, sophomore filly finished a closing second in the Grade 1 Alcibiades last fall here at Keeneland before being freshened. She returns today adding Lasix to the package. Look out, a winning outcome, however at a low price, is distinctly possible. Wager: $20 to Win.”

Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)

My choice is #6 Bizzee Channel (6-1 morning line). “Veteran gelding has posted an excellent 23-5-6-3 record while campaigning for the Larry Rivelli stable. Returning from a six-month break, up-and-coming jockey Jareth Loveberry gets chance to shine

on big Kentucky stage in allowance turf route. In an effort to maximize return, I’ll buy a $5 Exacta box with 6 on top and bottom with 3,7 and 10. Wager: $30 in Exactas.”

Races Nos. 6-9 (3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes the following $.50 Pick 4 (cost $54)

Race 6: 4,5,11,12

Race 7: 2,5,7

Race 8: 1,2,7

Race 9: 3,8,11

TOTAL WAGERS ON SUNDAY: $104

TOTAL WAGERS THROUGH SATURDAY: $223

TOTAL MONEY CASHED: $371.50

TOTAL PROFIT: $148.50
