By Ed Sehon  (VSiN handicapper)

USATSI_12486754

Editor’s note: Just like he did during the 40-day Saratoga meet last summer, Ed Sehon (aka Mr. Ed) will provide VSiN readers with daily picks during the 15-day Keeneland meet that opened last Friday and runs through Friday, April 29. Sehon’s selections are meant to give an overview of how to attack each day’s card through the use of Best Bets on individual horses as well as multi-race wagers (which are meant to give a more comprehensive look at the card, so feel free to pick-and-choose from the selections in those races and mix with your own handicapping). He generally tries to do it on a bankroll of (about) $100 a day. On Wednesday, Mr. Ed had two winners plus a small exacta, but unfortunately still lost $51.30. Here’s his plays for Wednesday as he tries to get back on the positive side of the ledger before the end of the meet on Friday:

Races Nos. 1-2 (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT)

SPECIAL DAILY DOUBLE

Mr. Ed likes the first-class trio of trainer Wesley Ward with top riders Irad Ortiz Jr. and Johnny Velazquez. With this play you get all three for two. Wager: $4 DD of 5,7/10,11 (cost $16).

Race No. 4 (2:36 p.m. ET/11:36 a.m. PT)

I like three: #5 Dame Cinco (3-1 morning line), #6 Gigablast (4-1) and #8 Nana’s Gray (6-1) Wager: $3 Exacta Box (cost $18).

Race No. 5 (3:08 p.m. ET/12:08 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes #4 Casanova Kitten (4-1 morning line). “Deep-pocketed owners-breeders Ken and Sarah Ramsey move daughter of their superstar sire Kitten’s Joy from Wesley Ward barn to Saffie Joseph Jr. stable. New trainer in turn gives young rider Geraldo Corrales a big boost by naming him to ride. Cat is live. Wager: $10 Win and Place.”

Races Nos. 6-9 (3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed likes the following $.50 Pick 4 (cost $48)

Race 6: 4,7,11,12

Race 7: 1,2,5

Race 8: 3,5

Race 9: 1,5,7,9

Race No. 8 (4:44 p.m. ET/1:44 p.m. PT)

Mr. Ed’s BEST BET is #3 Red Ghost (5-2 morning Line). “Stakes-winning, super-consistent, quick filly ships down from Turfway Park for pricy allowance sprint. Jockey Johnny Velazquez knows gal, having been aboard for her maiden score here last April. Guess I’m all in with Wesley Ward. Wager: $20 to Win.”

TOTAL WAGERS ON THURSDAY: $122

TOTAL WAGERS THROUGH WEDNESDAY: $1,322

TOTAL MONEY CASHED: $1,134.80

NET LOSS: $187.20
