MR. ED’S SARATOGA WATCH LISTS

HORSES: Zandon, Early Voting, White Abarrio, Olympiad, Life Is Good, Letruska, Jackie’s Warrior, Malathaat, Rich Strike, Epicenter, Gulfport, Damon’s Mound, Munnys Gold  — and scores of budding 2-year-old rookies.

JOCKEYS: Brothers Ortiz (Irad and Jose), Luis Saez, Tyler Gaffalione, Joel Rosario, Johnny Velazquez, Javier Castellano, Manny Franco, Dylan Davis, Trevor McCarthy and Spa newcomer Flavien Prat.

TRAINERS: Chad Brown, Todd Pletcher, Brad Cox, Bill Mott, Christophe Clement, Wesley Ward, Linda Rice, Jimmy Jerkens and British import Joseph O’Brien.

ATTENDANCE: Might average 30,000/day. STAKES: 17 Grade 1s. PURSES: Many days exceed $1 million. TV: Saratoga Live on Fox Sports 1. And above all: Be sure to watch for Mr. Ed’s exclusive selections at VSiN.com every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

IN CONCLUSION: WATCH YOURSELF. While no one anticipates the Spa opening more than Mr. Ed, he will leave much of his bankroll in the ATM for the first few weeks of the meet. For many, betting at Saratoga can be like going on one’s first four-day junket to Las Vegas. If you try to do everything the first day in town — eating, drinking and betting every game on the board — you may very well end up broke, spending the final three days in your hotel room. Early on at Saratoga, take time to get a feel for how the tracks are playing, what jockeys are hot or not and which trainers have the loaded barns. Mr. Ed’s motto: Learn a little, save a lot.
