In the meantime, let’s examine where smart money is leaning for Wednesday’s MLB slate…

1:05 p.m. ET: Philadelphia Phillies at New York Yankees (-150, 7)

This is the rubber match of a three-game Interleague Series set. The Yankees (3-2) took the opener 8-1, cruising as -175 home favorites. Then the Phillies (1-4) bounced back with a 4-1 win on Tuesday, cashing as +140 road dogs. In this afternoon’s series finale, Philadelphia hands the ball to righty Aaron Nola (0-0, 12.27 ERA) and New York counters with ace righty Gerrit Cole (1-0, 0.00 ERA). This line opened with the Yankees listed as a -140 home favorite and the Phillies a +130 road dog. Pros have laid the chalk with New York, steaming the Yankees up from -140 to -150. The Yankees are receiving 83% of bets but 92% of money, signaling a combination of heavy public and sharp support. Favorites off a loss who made the playoffs the previous season are 309-182 (63%) since 2022. New York also has value as an Interleague favorite with a line move in their favor, as the lack of familiarity benefits the "better" team. Pros have also leaned under, as the total is 7 with the under juiced to -120, signaling a possible fall down to 6.5. The forecast calls for 55 degrees with 10 MPH winds blowing in from center. Nic Lentz, the home plate ump, has historically favored home teams (61%) and unders (52%).

1:05 p.m. ET: Tampa Bay Rays (-250, 8) at Washington Nationals

The Rays (5-0) have taken the first two games of the series and are looking to complete the sweep this afternoon. Tampa Bay won the opener 6-2 as -175 road favorites and then won again last night 10-6 as -170 road favorites. In today’s series finale, Tampa Bay taps lefty ace Shane McClanahan (1-0, 0.00 ERA) and Washington (1-4) counters with fellow lefty Patrick Corbin (0-1, 6.00 ERA). This line opened with the Rays listed as a -225 road favorite and the Nats a +210 home dog. Pros aren’t scared off by the expensive chalk and have steamed Tampa Bay up from -225 to -250. Road favorites who made the playoffs the previous season against teams who missed the playoffs are 272-167 (62%) since 2022. Tampa Bay is 59-42 (58%) against lefties since 2021. Tampa Bay has a big edge offensively, hitting .275 vs .189 for Washington. Fading Patrick Corbin is 52-21 (71%) since 2020. The total is 8 with -110 juice on both sides. The forecast calls for low 80s with 10-15 MPH winds blowing out to left center. The over is receiving 67% of bets but 76% of money. Overs are 45-33 (58%) so far this season.
