Wednesday Best Bet recaps
Wednesday was a full day in and out of the Tuley’s Takes home office, which included taking the family to the “Barbie” movie.
I knew I would like it but it was fantastic. I’ve been a fan of Margot Robbie for a long time, from “The Wolf of Wall Street” to “Focus to “Suicide Squad” (as Harley Quinn) to “I, Tonya” (as Tonya Harding) to “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (as Sharon Tate). Sidenote: every gambler needs to see the betting scene in “Focus.”
As for my bets, I won my first play in the morning (Pacific Time) on the Mariners First 5 Innings +115 at the Twins as Seattle scored a run in each of the first four innings and added three in the top of the 5th to lead 7-3 through 5 innings. They also led 3-2 through 3 innings and won the game 8-7.
Unfortunately, I lost my top play on the Mets First 5 Innings +135 at the Yankees as they trailed 3-1 after 5 innings. They also trailed 2-1 through 3 and lost the game 3-1, so that was a lost call all around. The split also ended our string of either sweeping or going 0-fer on our daily plays.
So, our official First 5 plays went 1-1 for +0.15 units, but we still stand a dismal 18-31-5 in July for a net loss of $970 based on $100 flat bets, according to the
VSiN Pro Picks page.
Let’s go with two more F5 plays on Thursday’s very short card with just five games.
Thursday MLB Best Bets
Tigers First 5 Innings +100 vs. Angels, Game 2: I actually like the Tigers in both games of their Thursday doubleheader (with Detroit’s Michael Lorenzen vs. LA’s Shohei Ohtani in Game 1), but in the end I like Game 2 with Matt Manning (3-1, 3.19 ERA) vs. Patrick Sandoval (4-7, 4.16 ERA). As regular readers know, I’m not afraid to fade Ohtani, but when it comes down to it I think the better bet is to fade Sandoval (and, frankly, I trust Manning more than Lorenzen as well).
Guardians First 5 Innings +100 at White Sox: Of Thursday’s three other games, I like the road teams, but the Cubs are favored and I don’t trust the Nationals as much as the Guardians here with Tanner Bibee (6-2, 3.04 ERA) vs. Dylan Cease (4-3). I mean, why are the White Sox (on a 5-game losing streak) even favored?.
