Tuesday Best Bet recaps
Tuesday was mostly spent working on the rest of my conference futures, CFB Playoff picks and Over/Under season win totals for VSiN’s College Football Betting Guide (due out next Thursday, Aug. 3) while also following my MLB bets on the day..
It’s a good thing it was a productive day because it was disappointing on the betting end as I lost my supposed top play(s) on the Marlins First 5 Innings +0.5 +115 and F5 +180 ML at the Rays as the Rays led 3-1 through the first 5 innings as the Marlins couldn’t get to Tyler Glasnow. I also lost on the Royals First 5 Innings +115 at the Guardians as they tied it 1-1 in the top of the 5th but the Guardians added 3 more in the bottom half to lead 4-1 after 5.
The only consolation was the First 3 and full-game moneylines didn’t fare any better, so no second-guessing on those parts.
So, our official First 5 plays went 0-3 to drop to a dismal 17-30-4 in July for a net loss of $985 based on $100 flat bets, according to the
VSiN Pro Picks page. Again, as we have written each of the past three days: “the streaky nature of our plays has lended itself to having parlays or round-robins being more profitable (or cutting losses).”
Let’s try to get back on the winning track (and get one of those 2-0 parlays) on Wednesday’s card.
Wednesday MLB Best Bets
Mets First 5 Innings +135 at Yankees: Since the Mets have a huge fan base, I hear often that they’re one of the most disappointing teams this season and I haven’t backed them too often. However, I like them in this spot, especially as the even more popular Aaron Judge-less Yankees are underachieving as well and are also in a “mini-anti-swagger” spot after having a 3-game winning streak snapped. All things considered, I’m really surprised the Mets are this big of an underdog with Jose Quintana (3.60 ERA) vs. Carlos Rodon (7.36 ERA), but I’ll take it.
Mariners First 5 Innings +115 at Twins: This is pretty much a toss-up in my mind with Seattle’s Bryce Miller (6-3, 3.50 ERA) and Minnesota’s Joe Ryan (9-6, 3.88 ERA) but I like the plus-money with the Twins in a “mini-anti-swagger” spot after having a 4-game winning streak snapped.
