Tuesday Best Bet Results
It was a winning day in the Tuley’s Takes office on Tuesday as we juggled our work on the VSiN Kentucky Derby Betting Guide (coming out Thursday) with our Best Bets.
Regular readers would expect that as dogs went a combined 4-0 ATS in the NBA and NHL playoffs even though we didn’t use any of those as official plays here (hopefully our “dog-or-pass” disciples were on at least a couple of those dogs with their own bets).
We actually pushed on our posted Best Bet of the White Sox First 5 +140 vs. the Twins as those two teams played to a scoreless tie through 5 innings, but we also included a Best Bet on the +153 full-game money line and the White Sox went on to win 3-2 in 10 innings.
We pushed out second MLB play on the A’s First 5 +105 vs. the Mariners as they also had a scoreless tie through 5 (A’s ended up losing 2-1), but we had another winner with the Braves First 5 +115 at the Marlins as led 3-0 after 5 and went on to win 6-0 in what we knew should have been our Best Bet, but that’s OK as it was a very good day!
Let’s get to Wednesday’s action, though we’re going to pass on the 76ers as the Celtics are in the “zig-zag role” after losing Game 1.
Wednesday MLB Best Bet
Rockies First 5 +100 vs. Brewers: We don’t like many dogs on Wednesday’s MLB card, so this is a lukewarm Best Bet. However, we have no problem fading Milwaukee left-handed starting pitcher Eric Lauer (5.19 ERA) at Coors Field as several Rockies have had a lot of success against him: Kris Bryant (.333 in 9 ABs), Elias Diaz (.333 in 12 ABs, plus he had a homer and the go-ahead single last night), Yonathan Daza (.300 in 10 ABs), etc.
Wednesday NHL Best Bet
Golden Knights -105 vs. Oilers: We’re well aware that home-ice advantage has been non-existent so far in the NHL playoffs as road teams actually lead 33-19 overall, but we still can’t pass up the Golden Knights as the only home dog so far in the playoffs. We’re a fan of Connor McDavid, but we feel the market is giving him too much credit and we’ll take the better overall team to protect home ice in the series opener. This will probably come down to power plays. The Oilers are stronger, but the Golden Knights are 19-7-1 in games when they score a power-play goal. We did miss the Kraken-Stars First-Period Over 1.5 on Tuesday as the Kraken led 4-2 after the opening 20 minutes. We’ll be looking to parlay the Oilers-VGK 1P Over 1.5 on Wednesday to the Kraken-Stars 1P Over 1.5 on Thursday with an unofficial Best Bet when that becomes available (probably Wednesday afternoon).
