Friday Best Bet Results
We had a second straight perfect day in the Tuley’s Takes home office as we won with the Heat again at +9 as they pulled their second straight outright upset on the road in Boston while we went 2-0 with our MLB First 5 underdogs.
We also took in Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference Finals at the T-Mobile Arena here in Las Vegas. I didn't have a bet on the game as I didn't want to bet the underdog Stars (and I avoided taking the Golden Knights on the -1.5 puck line like a lot of the 18,271 fans in the stands -- VGK led 3-2 when Dallas went with an empty net, but the Stars scored with 1:58 left in regulation to send the game to overtime and make losers of all those puck-line bets). We were thrilled to cheer the Golden Knights to a 4-3 OT victory without losing any money in the process.
Our Guardians F5 +120 play won as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Mets in the top of the 1st inning and held on to lead 5-2 after 5 (though they lost 10-9 in 10 innings, so we felt good about sticking to our First 5 strategy). Then, we won with the Cubs F5 +105 as they fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st, but then jumped all over Philly starter Ranger Suarez for 4 runs in the top of the 2nd and added another 4-spot in the 5th to lead 8-1 on the way to an easy 10-1 win for those who play my picks that way.
Anyway, the 3-0 night improved our record to 27-16-7 (62.8%) so far in the month of May for a net profit of $1,286 based on $100 flat bets, according to the
VSiN Pro Picks page.
Let’s look for more Best Bets on Saturday; however – as we mentioned on “The Greg Peterson Experience”/”Saturday Bet Prep” show on VSiN on Friday night – I’m not going to have too many NBA and NHL plays coming up in the next few days because of all the success my dogs have been having and now the favorites are in the “zig-zag role” and I’m not looking to fade those. Remember, "pass" is a very important part of the "dog-or-pass approach," and it saved us money as we passed on the Dallas Stars on Friday night vs, the Vegas Golden Knights. Don't let anyone tell you that I bet every dog!
Most of my action on Saturday will come in horse racing, so check out the plays of me and my handicapping crew at
VSiN.com/horse-racing/. However, I do have 2 MLB plays for Saturday.
MLB Saturday Best Bets
Cubs First 5 Innings +135 at Phillies: We cashed in on my Cubbies on Friday even though they were on a 5-game losing streak as we felt the Phillies were overpriced, and it paid off as the Phillies lost their 5th straight as the Cubs rolled 10-1. The Cubs are now in a mini-swagger spot after getting a confidence boost from that easy win, so we’ll come right back with them Saturday at an even better price. We’re not too thrilled in backing James Tailon (0-2, 6.66 ERA), but we’re not afraid to fade Aaron Nola (3-3, 4.53 ERA).
Red Sox First 5 +110 at Padres: This is just another bet where we feel we’re getting plus-money on the team in better form right now as the Red Sox have won 3 straight and the Padres have dropped 3 in a row. We’ll also take Chris Sale (3-2, 5.40 ERA) over Joe Musgrove (1-1, 6.63 ERA).
